The apex locator cannot be activated.
1. Check whether the cable for the mucosal electrode or the file clamp is not
properly inserted or is defective.
2. Check whether the file clamp was mistakenly connected to the file in the
contra-angle handpiece instead of to the mucosal electrode.
3. Check whether the Sirona ENDO 6:1 contra-angle handpiece is used.
4. After performing a software update, simultaneously press the "Save",
"Reduct" and "Reverse" keys for about 3 seconds.
1. Check the connection between the cable of the mucosal electrode and the
control unit. The cable or the contra-angle handpiece may be defective.
2. Repeat the activation process by connecting the contact between the
mucosal electrode and the file in the contra-angle handpiece. Wait until the
"Apex locator on" display appears.
3. Repeat the activation process by connecting the contact between the
mucosal electrode and the file clamp. Wait until the "Apex locator on" dis-
play appears.
Cause
The mucosal electrode does not
have a sufficient contact to the oral
mucosa.
The file clamp may possibly
be dirty.
The crown of the tooth is covered
with blood or chemicals which flowed
out of the canal and over the crown
and neck, thus establishing an
electric contact with the gums.
The root canal is filled with blood
or electrolytic fluid.
Operating Instructions SIROEndo Pocket
Solution
Attach the mucosal electrode so that
it has a good electric contact to the
oral mucosa.
Clean the file clamp with a cleaning
cloth moistened in alcohol.
Dry or electrically insulate the
crown.
Rinse the root canal and suck
it dry.
