A/C service preparation

WARNING – Risk of burns from hot engine
components
Contact with hot engine components will
cause severe burns.
Allow the engine to cool down.
Wear protective gloves.
WARNING – Risk of frostbite from escap-
ing refrigerant
Refrigerant causes severe frostbite on the
skin.
Check the service hoses for damage.
Firmly connect the service quick-release
couplings to the service hoses.
Wear safety goggles.
Wear protective gloves.

Observe the vehicle manufacturer's recommenda-
tions for A/C service on vehicles with a low-pressure
connection only.
1. Stand the ACS 810 on a flat, vibration-proof surface.
2. Actuate the brake to stop the ACS 810 rolling.
3. Connect the power supply cord to the power supply.
4. Switch on the master switch.

Observe the manufacturer's instructions for the cor-
responding vehicle before performing A/C service.
!
The ACS 810 is only to be operated with R134a
refrigerant. Check which refrigerant is used for the
vehicle before performing A/C service.
!
The ACS 810 cannot be used for air conditioners
repaired using a chemical sealant. Non-observance
will invalidate the warranty.
!
Never attempt to close the valves of the internal re-
frigerant cylinder whilst the ACS 810 is in operation.

8.
Testing the vehicle air con-
ditioning system
8.1
Visual inspection
Prior to service, check all visible components and connec-
tions on the vehicle air conditioning system for damage.
8.2
Pressure test

Follow the additional ACS 810 menu prompting.
1. Call up the start screen.
2. Press <MENU>.
3. Select "PERFORMANCE TESTS" with o u and con-
firm with E.
 Message is displayed.
4. Select the number of service hoses.
5. Turn HP and LP valves to "O" position.
 The service hoses are filled.
6. Turn HP and LP valves to "C" position.
7. Connect the service hoses to the vehicle, switch on
the engine and vehicle air conditioning system.
8. Maintain engine speed between 1,500 and 2,000
rpm.
9. Read and record the ambient temperature, HP pres-
sure, LP pressure and the measured air temperature
from the fan openings.
10. Switch off the engine and vehicle air conditioning
system, remove the service hoses from the vehicle.
11. Turn HP and LP valves to "O" position.
 The service hoses are emptied.
12. After the corresponding message appears on the
display, turn the HP and LP valves to "C" position.
13. Continue with <STOP>.
14. Enter the measured ambient temperature and con-
firm with E.
15. Enter the read pressure value (HP) and confirm with
E.
16. Enter the read pressure value (LP) and confirm with
E.
17. Enter the air temperature measured at the fan open-
ings and confirm with E.
 The entered data is displayed along with the sta-
tus.
