3.9 SEED DISTRIBUTOR
A plate (Fig. 31), chosen according to the size of the seed (1, Fig.
31), is installed inside the distributors (the seed should not be able
to enter the hole - see table 3.10.2).
The vacuum created on the disc enables aspiration of seeds, which
are fi rst selected and then released on the ground.
SEED AGITATOR
The Manufacturer provides a (disassembled) seed agitator for each
distributor, as part of the standard supply (A, Fig. 32).
The agitator ensures seed "tumbling" at the aspiration chamber:
this facilitates constant and homogeneous seed distribution.
Install the seed agitator only when seeds distribution proves to be
very uneven.
3.9.1 SELECTOR
SELECTOR ADJUSTMENT
When the indicator (B, Fig. 32) is moved, it commands a cursor (C,
Fig. 32), which slightly touches the plate near the holes, causing
the excess seeds to fall. The selector is adjusted at each seed and
plate change, towards the lower numbers for small seeds (1, Fig.
32) and vice versa for big seeds (2).
IMPORTANT: The selector does not adjust the air fl ow in the
distributor; replace the cursor (C, Fig. 32) when the seeding
confi guration is changed (single, double or triple row seeding).
MICRO-SELECTOR (Single Row - Strip Row - Double Row)
You will have the right adjustment when one seed only remains
sticked to the hole. If this does not happen, you have to adjust also
the micro selector (D, Fig. 33), which allows to reach a fi ner seed
selection. If the micro-selector obstructs the passage of some types
of seed, we advise you to disable it by pulling the knob (E, Fig. 33)
until it hooks with the edge of the pointer (F, Fig. 33). If seeding is
being carried out with a DR coulter (Fig. 22), two micro-selectors
shall be employed.
NOTE: When using the triple row seeding confi guration (TR,
Fig. 22), disconnect the micro selectors.
If the micro selector is not required, disable it to reduce com-
ponent wear.
Field adjustments and control
For a correct adjustment before starting, lift the planter on the
tractor 3-points hitch and then:
- Operate the PTO shaft at 540 r.p.m.
- Adjust the vacuum and blow-off devices as instructed in section
3.11;
- Manually rotate the transmission wheel (simulate the working
speed).
- Adjust the selectors and make sure, through the observation
window, that the plate carries just one seed per hole
- Check again, after a few meters in the furrows.
3.9.2 ANTI-OVERFLOW PLATE ADJUSTMENT
Four possible adjustment positions are available for the anti-overfl ow
plate (1, Fig. 34), which defi nes the width of the seed inlet section (2,
Fig. 34) so that the seeds do not come out of the distributor due to
excessive feeding. Adjustment is par-ticularly needed when the ground
slopes steeply or when working with small seeds.
N.B.: Ensure that the knob (3, Fig. 34) has been well-tightened.
