3.10 SEEDING
3.10.1 DISTRIBUTION ADJUSTMENT
Distribution adjustment must be done in compliance with:
- the kind of seed that has to be distributed;
- the longitudinal distance between one seed and another.
Kind of seed to be distributed:
Identify the diameter of the holes of the seed disk in table 3.10.2,
according to the type of seed to distribute.
For special requirements make a specifi c order.
The values shown on the table are approximate. The defi nite
choice of seed plates is completely up to the user. Complaints
for imprecise sowing due to utilization of improper seed plates
will not be accepted.
Longitudinal distance between one seed and another:
The longitudinal seed planting distance depends on the number of
holes drilled on the seed disc. On the gearbox cover a chart shows
information for regulating the seed planting distance depending
on the gears and gear combination in the transmission wheels.
1) From the Seed Investment Table:
Depending on the seed drill interrow, look for the required amount
of seeds (no. of seeds per hectare) in the corresponding column
of the following seed charts (3.10.3). Then, calculate the distance
between the seeds.
Example:
(1)- Seeding row distance 17 cm;
(2)- number of seeds to be distributed per hectare: 2.100.000.
According to the "Seed investment Table", the longitu-
dinal distance between one seed and another is 2,80
cm (3).
For row distances differing from those listed in the table, apply the
following directions:
Longitudinal seeding distance =
Example:
2
- Ha = 10000 m
;
- Row distance = 0,45 m;
- No. of seeds to be distributed for hectare = 1500000.
Longitudinal seeding dist =
(cm)
2) From the Table of Longitudinal Seed Planting Distances :
Based on the number of holes on the seed disc, chart 3.10.4
enables determination of the gear coupling on the transmission
wheel in order to calculate the desired distance between the seeds.
Column C-D shows the possible combinations on the wheel; column
A-B shows the ratios that can be selected in the gearbox. The pairs
of values represent the no. of teeth in the pinions that are installed
on the engine shaft and conduit shaft respectively.
For instance:
If a 90-hole disc (4) is used and a distance of approx. 2.8
cm is required between the seeds (5), the gear combination
is 15-15 for pair C-D and 15-19 for pair A-B.
