DT.4481 Camshaft Setting Tool
DT.4481 is used to 'set' the camshaft in its timed position by locating into the horizontal slot machined
at the back of the camshaft. When installed the locating pin on the tool should be uppermost (top)
DT.4482 Crankshaft Locking Pin
DT.4482 positions the crankshaft at TDC. It is inserted through the crankshaft pulse pick-up opening
in the cylinder block and engages in a slot provided on the crankshaft.
DT.4483 Injection Pump Locking Pin
This Pin position aligns to a timing mark on the simplex injection pump sprocket and enters a recess
in the injection pump fl ange.
IMPORTANT: The Locking Pin MUST enter the locating holes smoothly and slide in and out easily.
Timing Adjustment
DT.4484 Timing Adjustment Assembly
DT.4484 comprises a cam sprocket attachment and a timing adjustment fi xture.
It is mounted onto the cylinder head and used to adjust the pump sprocket timing position through
action to the simplex chain and camshaft sprocket.
Lock the crankshaft at TDC using DT.4482 and remove both the simplex and duplex chain tensioners.
Remove camshaft sprocket bolt counter-holding the camshaft with a spanner. Fit new bolt but only hand-tighten so sprocket is 'free to turn' on camshaft.
Release the simplex injection sprocket bolts and align the 'arrow' timing mark on the sprocket with the holes in the pump fl ange and pump.
Insert DT.4483 Injection Pump Locking Pin and install the duplex chain tensioner. Remove Pin DT.4483 to tighten the simplex injection pump sprocket bolts. Re-insert Pin ensuring it
enters easily and slides in and out smoothly.
Install Camshaft Setting Tool DT.4481 in the rear slot of the camshaft. If necessary, turn camshaft using spanner.
Insert the sprocket attachment of DT.4484 vertically, locating it into the holes of the cam sprocket and bolt the timing fi xture onto the cylinder head.
Fit a 1/2" sq. dr. ratchet to the sprocket attachment and apply slight pressure in an anti-clockwise direction (against engine rotation). Retain it in this position by turning the adjustment
screw of the fi xture, by hand, until it meets the attachment.
Check that Pump Locking Pin DT.4483 can still be removed and installed smoothly. If not, adjust pressure by carefully altering the fi xture adjustment screw position.
Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt to specifi ed torque and install simplex chain tensioner.
