DT.4490-2 Auxiliary Belt Tensioner Retaining Pin
The auxiliary drive belt is tensioned by a tension roller and large spring.
To release the auxiliary belt tension the tensioner is retracted from the belt and is retained in the retracted position
with Pin DT.4490/2.
1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 16v.

DT.3032-12 (Yellow) and DT.3032-17 (Blue) Camshaft Locking Tools
These tools are colour-coded for model use identifi cation. They are inserted between the two camshaft sprockets,
locating fi rmly into the gear teeth of the sprockets. This locks the sprockets in position and prevents them from
rotating out of their timed position, when the timing belt is removed.
NOTE: Before MY1999 the 1.8 16v. EcoTec engine was based on the 2.0 16v.
and uses DT.3032-12 Locking Tool. From MY1999 the 1.8 16v. is based on the 1.6 16v.
and uses DT.3032-17 Locking Tool.
It is essential to ensure the camshaft timing marks align before inserting a locking tool.
Opel cam timing marks vary in position according to the model of engine. For example, they can be at the top of the
sprockets aligned to the belt cover (3A), or aligned with the upper edge of the cylinder head (3B).

On the 1.4,1.6 and later 1.8 twin cam engines with Aluminium Sump Pans, timing belt replacement requires
the removal of the crankshaft pulley using DT.4353 Flywheel Holding Tool
DT.3032-20 Auxiliary Belt Tensioner Locking Pin
To remove the auxiliary belt from certain EcoTec 16v. engines the belt tensioner must be moved away
from belt and retained back by inserting DT.3032-20 Locking Pin through the hole in the tensioner and into
the mounting bracket.
