Installation
– Prise a free blind grommet -1- or -2- out of the opening in the
body.
– Guide the retrofit wiring harness through this free opening in
the body -1- or -2- from the towing bracket into the luggage
compartment.
– Insert grommet -4- into the selected opening in the body.
– Route the retrofit wiring harness -3- along the standard wir-
ing harness to the trailer detector control unit -J345- -2- and
connect to the trailer detector control unit -J345-.
– Establish the earth connection -1-.
– Secure the retrofit wiring harness -3- to the standard wiring
harness using cable ties.
The wires must be secured with cable ties to stop them from
"slipping" or "wearing".
Notes on further installation
WARNING
DO NOT connect the battery!
The battery is reconnected ONCE ALL WORK HAS BEEN
COMPLETED.
Earth point tightening torque: 9 Nm
6.3.3 Installing the "13-pin socket" for the retro-
fit wiring harness, A3 Cabriolet
The "socket" retrofit wiring harness is part of the assembly set
for the towing bracket. It is installed once the towing bracket
has been fitted.
