Concluding operations
On vehicles with lane change assist, this must be recalibrated.
WARNING
The following information must be observed when work-
ing with the lane change assistant (Audi side assist):
◆ If the rear bumper is removed and then reinstalled or
if any modifications are made to the rear bumper, the
lane change assistant (Audi side assist) must be re-
calibrated. There is a risk of accident due to malfunc-
tion.
– Consult an Audi or VW workshop.
Keep these assembly instructions together with the vehicle
documents so that they can be presented to authorised persons
upon request.
7.1
Connecting the battery
WARNING
The battery must be connected when the IGNITION is
SWITCHED ON. There must not be anybody inside the ve-
hicle. Exception: vehicles with battery fitted inside the ve-
hicle. Do not sit within the airbag and seat belt deploy-
ment range.
Incorrect repairs to pyrotechnic components (e.g. air-
bags, belt tensioners) can cause parts to activate unin-
tentionally once the battery has been connected.
– Switch on ignition.
– Screw the battery terminal clamp for the earth wire -3- onto
the battery negative terminal.
Waiting time: 10 seconds
– Switch off the ignition
– Fit the battery cover.
Tightening torque of nuts on battery terminal clamp: 6 Nm
Steps after disconnecting the battery
◆ Switch on the ignition using the ignition key and then switch
off again.
◆ Read out the fault memory ⇒ vehicle diagnostic testers.
◆ Clock: Check time setting and reset.
◆ Electric window regulator: Fully open all windows and then
close again.
◆ Window regulator convenience switching mechanism: When
the convenience switching mechanism is actuated, the win-
dow must close without having to hold down the switch.
