– Unscrew the nut -1-.
– Fold the rear seat backrest forward.
– Hold the belt to the side, pull the side cushion -2- down-
wards -2- and remove.
WARNING
Before handling the pyrotechnic components (e.g. when
disconnecting the electrical connector), the personnel
working on the system must first "discharge any static
electricity". This can be done by briefly touching the door
latch, for example.
– Disconnect the electrical connector (yellow) for the rear side
airbag.
– To do this, pull the locking mechanism -1- in the direction in-
dicated -arrow-, and disconnect electrical connector -2- and
-3-.
Notes on installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order. Please note the fol-
lowing points:

Observe the relevant safety regulations
Before handling the pyrotechnic components (e.g. when
disconnecting the electrical connector), the personnel
working on the system must first "discharge any static
electricity". This can be done by briefly touching the door
latch, for example.
Note
The electrical connector for the side airbag must be pushed in
as far as it will go and must audibly engage.
Tightening torque of nut for side cushion: 9 Nm
