4.5 Alignment
Check shaft alignment after the pump installation is
completed.
The following anchoring and alignment procedures
are typical and, if performed with care, should result
in a smooth-running, trouble-free installation.
If the pump and motor were shipped mounted on the
pump base as an assembly, remove the coupling
guard.
The alignment procedure has two steps:
1. checking coupling clearance
2. coupling alignment.
Checking coupling clearance
Make sure that the gap between the coupling halves
is equal to the values in the table and that the
keyways are 180 ° displaced.

Coupling alignment
The pump and motor were accurately aligned at the
factory, but handling during shipment usually alters
this alignment. Using a small straightedge and feeler
gauges or a dial indicator, check for vertical and
angular misalignment of the coupling hubs. See
figures below.
Coupling alignment is proper when the dial indicator
reads no more than 0.13 mm runout in any direction,
or when the straightedge contacts both hubs evenly
in both horizontal and vertical positions. If
misalignment is detected, loosen the motor and shift
or shim as necessary to re-align, and then re-tighten
the bolts.

structure
Checking angular alignment, pin and bush coupling
structure
For the clamping coupling structure, remove the
coupling, and check shaft alignment by using the
leverage dial gauge with magnetic base.
Put the magnetic base on the motor shaft, put the
gauge outfit on the pump shaft, and read the value on
the gauge when rotating the shaft. See figure below.
