HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal System
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Heparinize the patient per standard practice for CABG procedures.
2. Remove the device from sterile packaging and ensure the Lock is locked (Figure 5).
PRECAUTION: If the Lock is unlocked, care should be taken to avoid accidentally depressing the Delivery
Device Plunger during unpacking, HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal loading, and handling. Do not unlock
the Lock on the Delivery Device handle until ready to deploy the HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal into aorta.
Do not use the HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal if the product is defective, the HEARTSTRING III Proximal
Seal is cracked or the Delivery Device is separated from the Loading Device.
3. Load the HEARTSTRING III Seal into the Delivery Device Tube:
PRECAUTION: Care should be taken not to actuate the Wings of the Loading Device unintentionally. Care
should be taken during the loading of the HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal into the Delivery Device to prevent
damage to the HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal and not to trigger the Delivery Device during loading.
Support the Delivery Device and Loading Device. Squeeze and Hold both Wings of the Loading

Device at the same time using your fingertips. The number ① visual cue should appear in the adjacent
window (Figure 6). Visually confirm the HEARTSTRING III Proximal Seal is rolled. Continue to hold
the blue Wings until noted in step 3.3.

3.2 While continuing to hold the blue Wings, Advance the Delivery Device slowly with moderate pressure
by pushing on the top, blue area, of the Delivery Device until the number ② visual cue appears
completely in the corresponding window (Figure 7). Avoid pushing on the white Plunger during this step.
