The MSA full body harness conforms to EN standard. The product meets requirements of Customs Union Technical Regulation "Safety of Personal Protective
Equipment" TP TC 019/2011. See figure 1 the product specification.
The user should according to Oneself Feature and wear suitable size harness. To put on and adjust the full body harness, follow the steps in figure 2. Ensure
the harness webbing is not twisted, and adjust to ensure to a snug fit (Check all connectors to ensure they are closed and locked before use).
Put on harness according to the following steps (See figure 2).
Step 1: Inspect harness straps, stitching, hardware and labels prior to donning. Hold harness from dorsal D-ring and shake harness to remove any twist in
straps (See figure 2A).
Step 2: Open the carabiner on the front connection loop and the buckles on the leg straps (See figure 2B).
Step 3: Putting the shoulder strap off to one side, hold the seat harness by the waist belt. Put your legs through the waist belt and pull the waist belt up to
your waist (See figure 2C).
Step 4: Adjust the waist belt by pulling on the belt strap. The free end of the belt strap must be tucked into the keeper (See figure 2D and figure 17).
Step 5: Fasten and adjust the leg loop to obtain the optimum fit (See figure 2E).
Step 6: Pull harness over your head and position the shoulder strap on the shoulders (See figure 2F). Put the front carabiner into the ventral point of the seat
harness. Lock this carabiner by turning the lock sleeve (See figure 2G).
Step 7: Adjust the shoulder straps. The free end of the shoulder straps must be tucked into the keeper (See figure 2H and figure 17).
Step 8: You should always initially adjust the dorsal adjuster when putting on your harness for the first time. Get your colleague to help you do this.
Position or adjust the work positioning lanyard in such a way that the anchorage point is maintained at or above waist level, the lanyard is kept tight, and free
movement is restricted to a maximum of 0.6 m (See figure 3).
Prior to using the sit harness for the first time, the user should test it for comfort and check that it can be adjusted safely. The user should do this in a safe place,
checking the harness is the correct size and that it can be sufficiently adjusted so that it is comfortable and suitable for its intended use.
Regularly check fastening and /or adjustment elements during use. MSA Harness users must be familiar with the User Instructions and have been trained in
how to use the harness by a qualified person. As the wearer, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have been adequately trained in the use of this harness
and that you fully understand how it works.
The harness MUST be inspected at least once every 12 months by a competent person authorized by current legislation in the country of use. The harness MUST
be fully inspected before each use to verify that is in serviceable condition. Do not use it when inspected unsafe condition according to the inspection reference.
When inspecting refer to the following: The harness straps must not show signs of severe wear, burns, cuts, frayed edges. The harness stitches must not be loose
or torn off. All metal parts of the harness must not show signs of cracking, breaking, deforming. Any broken or pulled stitches in the fall arrest indicator (refer figure 5
mark 5A) show that the harness has experienced load force or degradation due to environmental factors. Do not use the harness with broken stitches in the fall
arrest indicator. The load indicator (See figure 5A) will only active when attached to the dorsal D-ring. Due to the nature of some fall events, the fall arrest indicator
might not deploy. However, in the event of any fall, the harness must be removed from service. Always check the legibility of the product label.
The average lifespan of the product is 10 years. However, the following factors can reduce the performance of the product and its lifespan: incorrect storage,
incorrect use, mechanical warping, contact with chemicals (acids and alkalis), exposure to high temperatures. More frequent inspections are required in these
environments. Use caution when working around electrical hazards, moving machinery and abrasive surfaces.
All components connected to this harness MUST be compatible. A full body harness is the only acceptable body holding device that can be used in a fall
arrest system to EN 363. A fall arrest subsystem (EN 353-1, EN 353-2, EN 360) or energy absorber lanyard (EN 355:2002) MUST ONLY be connected to the
harness dorsal D-ring or sternal D-Ring only with the fall arrest attachment tag "A" (See figure 13 and 15B). There are hazards that may arise by the use of
combinations of items of equipment in which the safe function of any one item is affected by or interferes with the safe function of another.
When the harness is used for work positioning or restraining, it is no longer suitable for fall arrest purposes and it may be necessary to supplement work
positioning or restraining set-ups with collective measures (e.g. safety nets) or by implementing individual means of protection against falls from a height
(e.g. fall arrest systems in accordance with EN 363).
Whenever possible, to attach a fall arrest system, choose an anchorage point directly ABOVE the user's position to minimize swing falls (See figure 6). It is
essential for safety that the anchor device or anchor point should always be positioned, and the work carried out in such a way, as to minimize both the potential
for falls and potential fall distance. If the risk assessment carried out before the start of work shows that loading in the case of a use over an edge is possible,
appropriate precautions should be taken. The user should minimise the amount of slack in the lanyard near a fall hazard. Avoid any point on which strength is
doubtful. It is preferable to use structural anchors provided for the purpose (in accordance with EN 795:2012) or anchorage points with a minimum strength of
12 kN. The necessary minimum clearance below the feet of the user, in order to avoid collision with the structure or ground in a fall from the height. With a mass
of 100 kg and a fall factor two situation (worst case) the clearance D is the arrest distance H plus an extra distance of 1 m (See figure 8, the clearance=D).
Do not connect other components in either side of the energy absorber lanyard to increase the free fall distance, the total length of a sub-system with an energy
absorber including lanyard, terminations and connectors shall not exceed 2 m (e.g. connector plus lanyard plus energy absorber plus connector. Total length
of the energy absorbing lanyard includes both end of the connector) (See figure 8A).
Except the harness integral with energy absorber lanyard, the energy absorber must be used for every fall arrest system. It is essential for safety to verify the
free space required beneath the user at the workplace before each occasion of use, so that, in the case of a fall , there will be no collision with the ground or
other obstacle in the fall path (figure 6 and figure 7). See figure 9, fall arrest system connection. See figure 10, sternal D-Ring and dorsal D-ring used in fall
arrest system connection. Refer figure 11 the lanyard stowage point (if present) MUST ONLY be used for hanging snap hook of lanyard and NEVER A fall
arrest system or climbing protection. Refer figure 12 the gear loop MUST ONLY be used for hanging secure gear and NEVER A fall arrest system or work
position system.
