If the backlash measurement is out of specification, adjust the shim thickness according to the above graphs.
NOTE:
1. If both forward and reverse gear backlashes are larger than specification, the pinion gear shim thickness
needs to be smaller than installed.
2. If both forward and reverse gear backlashes are smaller than specification, the pinion gear shim thickness
needs to be larger than installed.
3. If either forward and reverse gear backlash is out of specification, the shim thickness for gear out of speci-
fication needs to be smaller or larger than installed.
