7.4 Use in manual mode

The supertirfor™ machine is easy to use in manual mode by simply
acting on the extending handle, applying a to and fro movement with an
amplitude which is comfortable for the operator. Refer to the user manual
supplied with your unit for the manually-operated tirfor™ TU16 – TU32
machines.

8. Shutdown and storage

IMPORTANT: Never allow the ends of the hoses to touch the ground.
IMPORTANT: Never pull the hydraulic power pack by its power
supply cable.
GB

8.1 Shutdown of hydraulic power pack with electric motor

- S witch off the electric motor.
- D isconnect the electric motor.
- F ully open the flow regulator and the independent control handles on
the multichannel hydraulic power packs, and disconnect the hoses.
- I mmediately fit the protective covers on the hydraulic couplings.
- S tow the hoses by winding them up lightly.
- W ind the power cable around the motor.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the motor is not too hot before you wind the
electric power cable around the motor.

8.2 Shutdown of hydraulic power packs with gasoline engine

- S witch off the gasoline engine.
- F ully open the flow regulator and the independent control handles on
the multichannel hydraulic power packs, and disconnect the hoses.
- I mmediately fit the protective covers on the hydraulic couplings.
- S tow the hoses by winding them up lightly.
8.3 Removal from service of supertirfor™ machines
Before disengaging the machines, make sure that there is no load
connected to the unit. Actuate the reverse operating lever until there is no
tension on the supertirfor™ wire rope.
Disengage the machine, then perform the "setting into service" procedure
in reverse order (see section 4.2). Re-engage the machine clutch before
storing it.

8.4 Storage of power packs, machines and wire rope

Store the supertirfor™ machine, the wire rope, hoses and the hydraulic
power pack in a dry location sheltered from the weather.
For a hydraulic power pack with gasoline engine, make sure that the
storage location is properly ventilated.
The supertirfor™ wire rope must be entirely removed from the machine
and stored on a reel.
Before winding the wire rope on its reel, inspect the wire rope, clean it
using a brush and lubricate it (see recommendations in §11).
The hoses should be stored in the most linear position possible,
horizontally.

9. Safety devices

9.1 supertirfor™ TU16H and TU32H

9.1.1 Safety device limiting overloads

9.1.1.1 supertirfor™ safety pins
All the machine models are equipped with a system of shear-type
safety pins. In the event of an overload, one or several pins (depending
on model) located on the forward operating lever will shear, making it
impossible to continue the movement. However, it is still possible to lower
the load or release the effort by actuating the reverse operating lever.
14

9.1.1.2 Hydraulic rams

The rams are equipped with a pressure relief valve, factory-calibrated, to
avoid overpressures in the ram in the forward operating mode.
When one or several channels are used, if one of the machines exceeds
the nominal load, without rupture of the supertirfor™ safety pins, the
complete installation stops.
To correct this situation:
- decrease the load, or
- b alance the load better on the various machines, or
- release (or lower) the load by maneuvering, using the rams (or the
extending handles after removing the rams) the reverse operating
levers of the supertirfor™ machines.
IMPORTANT: The valve will not allow you to detect an overload in
reverse operation.

9.1.2 Clutch release safety device

The TU16H and TU32H models are equipped with a "two-hand" clutch
release device requiring a deliberate maneuver to disengage the machine
(see chapter 5: "Releasing and engaging clutch").

9.2 Hydraulic power packs

9.2.1 "Deadman" device (only valid for hydraulic power pack
with electric motor)
A "deadman" device is provided with the hydraulic power packs. Operation
of the device consists in shutting down the electric motor of the hydraulic
power pack when the pushbutton actuating the hydraulic power pack is
released.

9.2.2 Safety valve

The hydraulic power packs are equipped with a pressure release valve
(overpressure safety), factory-calibrated, to avoid overpressures in the
hydraulic power pack. If the valve opens, it is no longer possible to lift
a load. The load remains stationary. However, the machine can still be
maneuvered to lower (or release) the load by maneuvering, using the ram
(or the extending handle, after removing the ram), the reverse operating
lever.
IMPORTANT: The valve will not allow you to detect an overload in
reverse operation.
9.2.3 Thermal protection probe (only valid for hydraulic
power pack with electric motor)
The electric motor of the hydraulic power pack is equipped with a thermal
probe. If the motor overheats, the motor is shut down. Allow the motor
to cool before restarting it. If shutdown of the motor occurs again, better
ventilation for the motor must be provided.
10. Replacement of supertirfor™ safety pins
IMPORTANT: It is prohibited to replace sheared pins with anything
other than genuine supertirfor™ pins of the same model.
NOTE: We recommend that you keep a sufficient quantity of spare
supertirfor™ pins to avoid any extended work stoppage when using the
machine.

10.1 Standard precautions

Before replacing pins, you must first:
1. Ensure that there is no load on the machine.
2. Shut down the hydraulic power pack and disconnect it from its power
source.
3. Remove the ram from the supertirfor™ machine.
