3.7
Diaphragm tank
The tanks may be installed over the module or on the floor.
There is a threaded connection for the diaphragm tank on the outlet line of each module, the pre-charge pressure of which must
be 0.2 bar less than the set pressure of the first pressure switch to activate. Checks must be made when the system is shut
down and the pressure discharged, or when the tank is disassembled from the system.
3.8
Ventilation
Adequate ventilation of the room in which the electric pump module is installed is very important for correct operation.
It must:
- dissipate the radiative heat generated by the motor while running.
- ensure the correct flow of air to the cooling fan of the motor.
For optimal operation, therefore, the air must enter through an opening with a fixed safety grille.
The size of the inlet and outlet openings must be calculated at least according to the air flow required to
ATTENTION
cool all the electric motors. Consider also the diesel motors, when applicable, and calculate the amount of
air required (refer to the manual of the diesel pump module).
To achieve the correct air flow, the fresh air is delivered through apertures located at the bottom of the room and, whenever
possible, on the opposite side, so that the air flows around the entire engine before being expelled from the room.
3.9
Control panel of the electric service pump
- Before making the connections, disconnect the mains power supply!
- The electric panel installation and maintenance operations may be performed by qualified electricians
only!
Follow these instructions:
- Connect the system to the ground before making any other connection ( Yellow/Green terminal)
- Protect the exposed cables from accidental knocks or damage.
- Protect the power line according to the regulations in force.
- Use cables suitable for the type of installation, according to the regulations in force.
Single-phase/three-phase version, service pump and jockey pump, if present
Suitable cable of appropriate gauge must be connected to the panel:
-
L to the main switch terminal, N to the neutral wire terminal (single-phase version)
-
L1, L2, L3 to the main switch terminals, N to the neutral wire terminal, if provided (three-phase version)
-
PE to the ground terminal
Connect the wires of the power cable to the terminal block of the control panel, prioritizing the ground wire.
- Refer to the wiring diagram supplied together with the electric panel for the connection of:
-
Starting devices (pressure switch and/or level switch)
-
Alarm signalling devices
- Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds to the voltage shown on the electric panel rating plate.
ATTENTION
- Check that the power supply cable is capable of carrying the nominal current of the set, and connect it
to the relevant electric panel supply terminals.
- The service pump's electric panel signals any wrong cyclic direction in the event of incorrect connection
of the three-phase line.
- Do not start the pumps until they have been filled with liquid. See the pump instructions manual.
- To start, follow the procedure described in the Start-up section.
In particular, the connection of the level switch: The level switch installed in the priming tanks for suction lift sets is designed to
start the diesel pump when the water level in the tank drops. The level switch connection terminals are normally jumpered to
enable operation. When installing the level switch, make sure you remove the jumper found on the terminals.
-
The panel features clean contacts for signalling purposes, suitable for connection to alarms and/or remote signalling devices,
for the main functions:
-
Obligatory as per standard EN12845
o Failure to start
o Motor run
o Pump on demand
o No power
