MAINTENANCE

5.1

Routine Maintenance

It is necessary to observe all the maintenance instructions set down by the manufacturer (refer to the instruction booklet
provided with the electric pump) to ensure the efficiency and good working order of the electric pump. Maintenance must always
be carried out by specialized technicians with suitable equipment.
We recommend that you check the correct operation of the electric pump at least once a month, especially its starting response
when the automatic starting device is triggered.
It is good practice to check the overall condition if the system as well.
Refer to the LAWS, REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS locally in force for more restrictive provisions on the subject of periodic
checks.
General and specific checks:
 Motor: refer to the specific documentation for further information.
 Hydraulic section: refer to the specific documentation for further information.
 Electric pump: refer to the specific documentation for further information.
 Electric panel: The electric panels do not require any particular maintenance. It is advisable, however, to check the fuses
once a week and the condition and cleanliness of the relays on an annual basis. It is forbidden to open the electric panel
before disconnecting the power line. Any changes made to the panels that have not been agreed with the maker shall
automatically invalidate the warranty.
 Electrical connections: Check the electrical connections of the motor and electric panel on a monthly basis, making sure
that they are securely tightened.
 Diaphragm tanks: Refer to the tank's instructions; check the pre-charge at least once a year.
 Motor-pump expansion joints: Refer to the specific documentation provided with the electric pump for further information.
ATTENTION
It is strictly forbidden to tamper with the installation. To do so will forfeit the warranty.
In any case, all operations intended to solve different problems must be performed by qualified personnel only. Before
proceeding with any operations on the expansion joints, make sure that the electric pump is switched off and that it cannot be
started accidentally. Only experienced personnel, aware of the possible hazards resulting from the movement of mechanical
members, are authorized to remove the protections.
Before proceeding with any checks or operations, read the Safety Instructions chapter and the reference documents carefully.
The protective devices must be removed only after putting the electric pump in safe mode, by turning the
switch to its "0" position and the main door-lock switch to its "OFF" position!
5.2
Routine maintenance required as per EN12845
The entire EN 12845 – UNI 10779 compliant fire-fighting unit, including each pressure module installed, must always be kept in
perfect working order. Regular maintenance plays an important part in this.
The user should, in accordance with standard EN 12845 (20.1.1) - UNI 10779:
 Perform a set of checks and inspections;
 Prepare a testing, assistance and maintenance schedule;
 Keep a record of all activities, and keep the documents in a folder at the site.
The user should contract out the testing, assistance and maintenance activities to the installer of the unit or to an equally
qualified company.
5.2.1

Weekly check

Each part of the weekly check must be performed at a frequency of no more than every seven days.
These are (EN12845 para 20.2.2):
checks
 Pressure of the gauges,
 Level of water in the storage tanks,
 Correct position of the main on-off valves.
Pump automatic starting tests
Checks to be carried out on the automatic pumps should include:
1) Check the level of fuel and lubricating oil in the Diesel motors.
2) Simulate automatic start-up by reducing the pressure in the starting devices (pressure switches). Open the pump's manual
starting valve.
3) Check that the pump starts up, and make a note of the starting pressure.
4) Close the manual starting valve and restore the level of pressure in the system.
In the case of a Diesel motor, this should run for a minimum of 5 minutes.
5) Stop the pump by turning the switch to "MAN" and pressing the "STOP" button.
