measures or more frequent maintenance operations, in particular:
-
High ambient temperature.
-
Dusty and/or sandy environments.
-
Marine environments.
-
Environments where there is a possibility of chemical pollution.
-
Environments where there is radiation and/or powerful magnetic fields.
-
Operating conditions involving extreme stresses or vibrations (the control panel must not be used in
these conditions).
Dusty environments with the presence of sand, or damp environments such as at the seaside, may
cause premature deterioration, compromising regular operation.
The machine is provided with the power rating required by the customer and with tolerance ranges within the legal limits.
Limitations to fluid temperature and pressure may be imposed by the membrane tank. Observe the

operating limits!
Checking the material
Upon delivery of the modular booster set, check that the material received corresponds to what is indicated on the transport
documents accompanying it.
Treat the Instruction Manual with care and keep it together with the Machine whenever this changes hands.
The manual must be handled carefully with clean hands, and without putting it down on dirty surfaces. Do not
remove, rip or make arbitrary changes to any of its sections. Keep the manual in an area protected against
heat and humidity and neat the machine to which it refers.

Product description

The GEM, GEM.J and GEMK modular fire-fighting pressure boosters are built in conformity with EN 12845 for automatic
sprinkler systems and with UNI 10779 for hydrant systems. In accordance with the above standards, all the main components of
the single-pump booster set are factory connected and assembled. The configuration of the module, intended as a single unit,
always comprises the pump and varies according to the required type of motor or engine (electric or diesel). If modules are
combined, the water supplies described in EN12845 can be obtained for the fire-fighting system in question. These water
supplies can be single, superior, duplicated or combined. The pipe union of two modules is dimensioned considering only one
pump in operation. In the case of three modules tubing is dimensioned for two pumps in operation.
Fire-fighting sets are generally fitted with two main service pumps, one backing up the other. The choice of electric motors or
diesel engines depends on the level of reliability required from the system. Point 10.2 of EN 12845 states that for superior or
duplicate water supplies, and if more than one pump is installed, no more than one service pump can be driven by the electric
motor.
This concept means that most installations always comprise at least one diesel pump backing up the main electric pump.
The GEM fire-fighting sets are available in the following versions:
An electric service pump with hydraulic section and electric panel (GEM).
An electric service pump with electric jockey pump fitted on the base of the electric pump, a hydraulic section and
electric panels (GEM..J).
A diesel service pump with hydraulic section, electric panel and fuel tank (GEMK). The electric jockey pump is
available only as a kit.
