Grounding
The metal parts of the system that are subject to contact with people, and which as a result of faulty insulation or any other
cause could be energized, must be connected to a ground plate.
The foundations of the electric pump modules and diesel pumps, when applicable, and the electric
ATTENTION
panels, are equipped with a ground terminal. Connect this to the equipotential earth system.
The electric panel installation and maintenance operations may be performed by qualified electricians
only.
The connection cable to the ground plate and the related contact resistance must be sized according to the regulations and
standards in force.

START-UP

Before commissioning:
- Make sure you have read and understood all the rules and warnings in the "user and maintenance"
document for each type of electric pump.
- Read the chapter and rules on safety in this manual.
The first commissioning operations must be performed by specialized technicians. Unauthorized
ATTENTION
operations on the product could lead to the forfeiture of the warranty.
Do not start up the motor if the system where the electric pump module is installed has not been completed and is not fully up to
standard.
4.1
Preliminary operations and checks before commissioning
Always follow all the instructions below before commissioning in any of these situations:
- After installation
- After a complete overhaul.
- When supplementary maintenance has been carried out on any of the systems and/or circuits of the electric pump.
The various systems should be checked for leaks and/or faults before commissioning and after initial start-up:
- Check the hydraulic system.
- Perform a general inspection of the motor.
- Check the cabling of the motor and electric panel.
During all the required checks described in the following paragraphs, make sure that the engine cannot
start up accidentally. Turn the three-way switch to its "0" position and turn the main door-lock switch to its
"OFF" position.
4.1.1
Circuits and electric panels
If the set has been out of operation for a long time, especially in a humid environment, you should check the ground isolation of
the electric panel and make sure the auxiliary circuits are properly supplied with power.
(Refer to the panel wiring diagram)
4.2

General operation

Refer to the chapter on use and maintenance of the electric panel for information on the operating logic of the electric service
pump (operation in DISABLED/MANUAL/AUTOMATIC mode).
The pumps may only be stopped manually by pressing a STOP button, with the exception of the version for fire-hydrant
networks, where the pump shuts off automatically after the pressure has been restored for the length of time specified by the
regulations locally in force.
The automatic starting of the pumps is determined based on the pressure switch settings. There are two pressure switches for
each service pump (or one in the case of the electric jockey pump), both having the same settings and being connected in such
a way as to start the pump when either one of them is triggered.
The differential pressure (the difference between the start-up and shutdown pressure) is the same for both pumps and is in the
region of 0.6 to 1 bar (value of setting can be changed in function of performance pump curve).
As provided by the firefighting standards, the first pump starts up automatically when the pressure in the main piping drops to a
value no lower than 0.8 Pmax (Pmax pressure with delivery shut off). The second pump starts when the pressure drops to a
value no lower than 0.6 Pmax The diaphragm tank and/or jockey pump, if present, serve to compensate for small system losses.
