Incorrect operation, use or maintenance of the engine or machine could lead to possible
malfunctions of the emission control system to the point that applicable legal requirements are not
met; in which case immediate action must be taken to correct the system malfunctions and restore
the applicable requirements.
By way of example, incorrect operation, use and maintenance includes but is not limited to the
following:
• Forcing or breaking fuel metering devices;
• Use of fuel and/or engine oil which does not comply with the specifications set out in par. 7.1
• The use of non-original replacement parts;
• Failure to carry out maintenance or inadequate maintenance of the exhaust system, including
incorrect service intervals for the silencer, spark plug, air filter etc.
ATTENTION
• Tampering with the engine of this machine renders the EU emissions certification invalid.
• The silencer is equipped with a catalytic converter, which is necessary for the engine to
comply with emission requirements. Never modify or remove the catalytic converter: this
would be in violation of the law.
The CO
level of the engine in this machine can be found on the Emak website (www.myemak.com)

in the section "The World of Outdoor Power Equipment".
12.2 SHARPENING THE GRASS CUTTING BLADE (2-3-4 TEETH)
Grass cutting blades are sharpened with a flat file for easy cutting (Fig. 14).
WARNING
• If you do not have the specific skills to sharpen blades correctly, contact an authorised service
centre.
• An unsuitable cutting tool or incorrectly sharpened blade increases the risk of kickback.
• Check grass cutting blades for damage or cracks; replace if damaged.
• Do not weld, straighten or change the shape of damaged cutting equipment in an attempt
to repair it. These operations can lead to the detachment of the cutting equipment and cause
serious or fatal injuries.
• Blades should never be repaired, but should be replaced as soon as they show signs of
breakage or when they exceed their sharpening limit.
ATTENTION
• To maintain balance, file all cutting edges evenly.
• If the blades are not sharpened correctly, they can create abnormal vibrations in the
machine, resulting in blade breakage.
NOTE
Grass cutting blades are reversible: when one side is no longer sharp, the blade can be
reversed and the other side can be used (Fig. 14).
12.3 STRIMMER HEAD
Always use the same diameter as the original line so as not to overload the engine (Fig. 15).
Tap the strimmer head on the ground to lengthen the nylon line.
