16 TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING
• Except in cases where machine operation is explicitly requested, always stop the machine
and disconnect the spark plug before carrying out all the corrective tests recommended in
the table below.
• When all possible causes have occurred and the problem has not been solved, consult an
Authorised Service Centre. If you experience a problem that is not listed in this table, consult
an Authorised Service Centre.
Issue
Engine does not start or shuts
down a few seconds after starting.
The engine starts, but does not
accelerate correctly or does not
run correctly at high speed.
The engine does not reach full
speed and/or emits excessive
smoke.
The engine starts, runs and
accelerates, but does not maintain
idle speed.
The engine starts and runs, but the
cutting tool does not rotate
ATTENTION
Never attempt to carry out repairs without having the necessary means and technical
knowledge. Any work carried out will automatically invalidate the warranty and will relieve
the Manufacturer of any and all liability. If problems persist after applying the troubleshooting
solutions, contact an Authorised Service Centre.

Possible causes
1. There is no spark.
2. Flooded engine.
The carburettor must be adjusted.

Damaged clutch, bevel gear or
drive shaft
Solution
1. Check the spark of the spark
plug. If there is no spark,
replace the spark plug with a
new one (TORCH L8RTF).
2. Follow the procedure indicated
at par. 10.3. If the engine still
does not start, replace the
spark plug with a new one and
repeat the procedure par 10.1.
Contact an Authorised Service
Centre to adjust the carburettor.
1. Use fresh petrol and a suitable
2-stroke oil (see par. 7.1).
2. Clean the air filter (see
par. 12.4).
3. Contact an Authorised
Service Centre to adjust the
carburettor.
Adjust the idle speed screw
(Fig. 17.T) in clockwise direction to
increase the speed (see par. 12.10).
Replace the damaged component
