13 STORAGE
When the machine is not used for an extended period of time:
• Empty and clean the fuel tank in a well-ventilated place.
ATTENTION
To empty the carburettor, start the engine and wait for it to cut out (leaving the mixture in the
carburettor could damage the membranes).
• The commissioning procedures after winter storage are the same as during normal machine start-
up. (chap. 9).
• Follow all rules indicated for maintenance as described above.
• Clean the machine thoroughly and grease the metal parts.
• Remove the disc, clean and oil it to prevent rust.
• Remove disc retainer flanges; clean, dry and oil the bevel gear seat.
• Remove fuel from tank and refit the cap.
• Thoroughly clean the cooling slots and air filter (Fig. 20.B).
• Store in a dry place, with no direct contact with the ground (where possible) and away from heat
sources.
• If the machine is stored with the metal disc fitted, the disc guard must also be fitted.
14 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Environmental protection must be a relevant and priority aspect when using the machine, for the
benefit of civil coexistence and the environment in which we live. Therefore:
• Do your best not to disturb others in the local area.
• Strictly follow local regulations for the disposal of waste materials after cutting.
• Strictly follow local regulations for the disposal of packaging, oils, petrol, batteries, filters,
deteriorated parts, or any item with a strong environmental impact.
NOTE
Special waste must not be disposed off with normal rubbish, but must be separated and taken
to the appropriate collection centres, where the materials will be recycled.
14.1 DEMOLITION AND DISPOSAL
When decommissioning the machine, do not abandon it in the environment, but take it to a
designated collection point.
Most of the materials used in the machine construction are recyclable; all metals (steel, aluminium,
brass) can be taken to a normal iron-recovery facility. For information, please contact the normal
waste collection service in your area. Waste from the demolition of the machine must be disposed of
in an environmentally friendly manner, avoiding the pollution of soil, air and water.
In any case, the local legislation in force must be observed.
When the machine is scrapped, the CE marking label together with this manual must also be
disposed of.
