PRE-INSTALLATION
11. Slide charge strip carrier into back side of rail
as shown (Fig 2).
12. Install gear rack pieces.
Continuing to work on a flat surface,
carefully** slide gear rack pieces into upper
rail until:
(a) last piece extends beyond rail end
OR
(b) last piece is within 1/2" (13 mm) of rail
end.
** Allowing gear rack pieces to "free fall"
and land hard will knock joint out of
adjustment.
• Maximum distance between last tooth
of uppermost gear rack piece and rail
end is 1-1/4" (32 mm).
• If last piece extends beyond rail end, cut
that piece to length. Mark piece even with
rail end, slide it out, subtract 1/2" (13 mm)
and cut.
NOTE: After insertion, remove last gear
rack piece (or two) to facilitate
carriage installation!
NOTE: In order to get the rail to the
installation site, in some cases
a two-piece rail may need to be
separated and rejoined once on
the staircase.
