1. If not done previously, reconnect two-
piece rail installations on staircase.
2. Place rail on stepnoses.
NOTE: Place heavy toolbox at bottom
of stairs to keep rail from sliding.
NOTE: Bottom of rail should be 1/8"
(3 mm) off floor. If thick
carpeting prevents this (Fig. 1),
contact Bruno to purchase kit
SRV-3000-038.
3. Mount upper rail bracket to rail, keeping
upper end of rail 2" (51 mm) off stepnose
and lower end tight against stepnose.
4. Install remaining rail brackets, including
special folding rail bracket (Fig. 2).
5. Slide rail out horizontally until bottom of
rail is off stair stepnose by:
2-1/2" (64 mm) minimum
Check clearance between bottom
endplate and floor [1/8" (3 mm) off
floor]. If too tight, rail will not close
properly. Adjust by loosening bolts
on all rail brackets, sliding rail up
slightly, and retightening bolts.
6. Measure from wall side of TOP of rail to
closest obstruction (i.e., wall, handrail,
etc.):
4.25" (108 mm)
Measure at top, middle and bottom
along the length of each rail section.
7. Fasten special folding rail bracket to stair
tread using two (2)
sheet metal screws
through the stairway side of rail bracket.
8. Remove M10 bolt (circled in red). Set rail
off to side (Fig. 3).
9. Lower adjustable post on special rail
bracket to set space between front and
back bracket feet. Then, anchor wall side
of bracket with two (2)
sheet metal screws.
