The propeller is one of the most critical components in the transmission, but also
the most vulnerable to any wear or damage. According to the maintenance
interval, the propeller should be dismantled regularly, inspected for any damage
or wear, and its drive shaft regularly lubricated with special marine grade grease.
To remove the propeller, remove the pin securing it and remove the propeller
from the drive shaft. Assemble in a separate order, however, use a new pin to
secure it and bend the ends of the pin after it has been put through, thus
preventing it from falling out.
3.4.9 Storage/Wintering
If the motor is not used for a long period of time, e.g. wintering, replace the motor
oil with fresh oil and empty the fuel tank completely. Also drain the fuel from the
carburetor by disconnecting the fuel supply line to it. Re-install it after draining.
The motor may be stored attached to a vessel provided that this vessel is also out
of the water. The device can only be stored in two positions - vertically as it is
mounted on a vessel or horizontally with the fuel tank and filler plugs facing
upwards in the case of MSW-MOE-G-1.5, while the MSW-MOE-G-2.5 and MSW-
MOE-G-6.5 models with the tank at the bottom. There is a risk of oil flooding in
the motor if it is not positioned correctly!
Below are 2 correct positions for storing the motor using the example of MSW-
MOE-G-1.5:
Remove the spark plug and pour a little motor oil through its hole and pull the
starter cord a few times to distribute the oil in the cylinder. Screw the spark plug
back in. Grasp the starter cord and pull the lever slowly until you feel resistance -
this will close the valves and prevent moisture from entering the motor. Store the
motor in a dry, shaded place and, above all, away from all sources of fire and out
of the reach of unauthorised persons and children.
