2 Safety
The induction generator is built to the current state-of-the-art and is reliable in operation. Nevertheless
hazards may arise in the use of the unit if it is not operated by personnel who have been trained or at least
instructed, and/or it is used other than for the intended purpose. Please note therefore:
Before commissioning and putting the unit into operation, read the operating manual carefully and
familiarise yourself with the controls!
The operating manual is part of the induction generator and be easily accessible in an easily readable
and complete form to all personnel who work with the unit.
The unit may be operated only by trained, instructed personnel!
The unit may be operated only for its intended purpose and when it is good working order!
The induction generator is designed and optimised for changing the tools in chucks of several well-
known types (power, heating time etc., see "LED indicators for operating mode and mode change").
When performing shrink release / shrinking in to other designs of chuck, problems may arise, even to
the extent of permanent damage to the chuck or to the induction unit itself.
After any unauthorised modifications or interventions in the unit, the manufacturer can no longer
guarantee the reliable operation of the unit. The liability for physical injury or loss of life of the user or
third party, and the risk of damage to the induction generator and other property is borne solely by
the operating company!
2.1
Choice of installation location
The SU1 is designed for bench-top use and should be located on a dry surface in a workplace , which is
free of dirt and dust as far as possible as well as secure and free from vibration.
Install the unit where it is free from vibration
Protect it from dirt and moisture!
For ease of reading, direct sunlight is best avoided.
2.2
Hazards due to electric energy
The unit contains current-carrying components at voltages which are hazardous to touch.
For your own safety, comply with the following points:
The unit must not be operated with the casing open!
The unit may not be opened except by our service personnel!
Avoid penetration of metal chips and liquids into the unit!
Perform shrink fitting only of clean tools into clean chucks!
Keep the unit tidy, and clean it regularly (see "Cleaning and servicing")!
2.3
Hazards due to hot parts
The type of heating is very effective, and heats only the relevant superficial zones of the chucks, only a
small input of heat. This raises the surface of the chuck to a temperature of up to approx. 400 °C. Whilst the
cooling adapter can also become hot, in normal operation the coil and the tools do not become hot, or at
least not excessively so.
