Remove the measurement cylinder under the front leg and, as
shown in the figure, place the measurement cylinder with 27mm
(M) height below the front left leg of the calibration stand.

9.6 Head Cross-Check

Then you get a description how Head Cross Check is working:
- Drive the vehicle onto the turntable supports and slip plates.
- Fit the pedal depressor on the brake.
- Remove the support and slip plate safety pins.
- Apply the sensors to the wheels, fitting the front sensors on the
rear axle and vice-versa.
- SET THE THRUST ANGLE AT ZERO by turning the steering
wheel then fit the steering clamp.
- When the values measured are stable press "Continue".
- Swap the sensors on the wheels, fitting the front sensors on the
front axle and vice-versa.
- If differences > 5'(0.08°) are found the wheel aligner must be
calibrated.
- Delete Historic Record ?
- If the results obtained are greater than 5'(0.08°), a measure-
ment error has been made.
- REPEAT THE MEASUREMENT
- If the previous results are also repeated during the second
measurement, calibrate the system.

Smart Card upgrade

For the aligner there are several upgrades as special accessories
availlable:
- 1 987 009 AS1N animated pictures: the assisting pictures how
to adjust a car are animated
- 1 987 009 AS2N Multilink procedure: to do an alignment
procedure according to VAG requirements. To do this VAG
procedure additional accessories are necessary (VAG special
tools like VAG 1952, 1 987 009 A25N)
- 1 987 009 AS3N Mercedes-Benz: to do an alignment proce-
dure according to VAG requirements. To do this VAG procedu-

1 987 009 A01N, adapter for MB 5-hole or MB 4-hole rims, 1
987 009 A04N or A05N as well as the MB Romess supplier
through the MB organisation)

These secondary upgrade cards have to be installed after the
software has been installed:
- Insert the SmartCard that was supplied into slot „B" of the USB
interface. When inserting the card, ensure that the contacts go
first into the reader. The golden contacts are at the front on the
right.
Once the card has been inserted into the reader, you can select
the relevant update function within the program. The data is
then transmitted to the system.
