3.3. Monitoring equipment

The monitoring equipment is dependent on the
design and size of the motor. An overview of the
available monitoring equipment can be found in
the order confirmation and the separate technical
data sheet.
The following monitoring equipment is possible
for motors in the T-series:
• Motor chamber monitor
• Thermal motor monitor:
The thermal motor monitor protects the motor
winding from overheating. Single-circuit monitors
(limitation only) and dual-circuit monitors (con-
trol and limitation) can be used. Bi-metal sensors
are used for this as standard. As an option, the
motors can be fitted with PTC sensors.
• Monitoring the sealing chamber:
The sealing chamber is monitored by an elec-
trode. It reports water penetrating the sealing
chamber through the mechanical shaft seal on
the fluid side.
• Monitoring the leakage chamber:
A float switch is used to monitor the leakage
chamber. It reports water penetrating the leakage
chamber through the mechanical shaft seal on
the motor side.
• Thermal motor bearing monitor:
The thermal motor bearing monitor protects the
motor bearings from overheating. PT100 sensors
are used.
• Monitoring the terminal chamber:
The moisture monitor reports water penetration
in the terminal chamber.

3.4. Operation in an explosive atmosphere

Pumps marked as explosion-protected are suit-
able for operation in an explosive atmosphere.
The pumps must meet certain guidelines for this
type of use. Certain rules of conduct and guide-
lines must be also followed by the operator.
Pumps that have been approved for use in an
explosive atmosphere must be marked as follows
on the rating plate:
• "Ex" symbol
• Information on Ex classification
For use in an explosive atmosphere, observe the
further specifications in the appendix to this
manual
INCORRECT use can result in danger!
When used in an explosive atmosphere, the
pump must have a corresponding approval.
Also, the accessories must be approved for
this application. Check the pump as well as
all accessories before use to verify that they
conform to this directive.

3.5. Operating modes

3.5.1. Operating mode "S1" (continuous operation)
The pump can operate continuously at the rated
load without exceeding the maximum permissible
temperature.
Installation and operating instructions Wilo-EMU FA+T-Motor
3.5.2. Operating mode "S2" (short-term operation)
The maximum operating period is given in
minutes, for example, S2-15. The pause must
continue until the machine temperature no longer
deviates from that of the coolant by more than
2 K.
