MAINTENANCE

1.
Lay the pump horizontally on a firm surface with
the plugs facing upwards.
Make sure that the pump cannot fall and/or slip
away!
2.
Remove the plastic cover (if present) and carefully
and slowly unscrew the plug (D or D+).
3.
The lubricant must reach up to the lower edge of
the opening.
4.
If there is not enough oil in the sealing chamber,
top it up. When doing so, follow the instructions
under "Changing the oil".
5.
Clean the plug (D or D+), fit with a new sealing
ring if necessary and screw it in again.
6.
Fit the plastic cover (if present) and line with an
acid-resistant sealant.
8.3.4. Visual inspection of the power supply cable
The power supply cables must be examined for
bubbles, cracks, scratches, chafed areas and/or
crushed sections. If damage is found, the pump
must be shut down immediately and the damaged
power supply cable replaced.
The cables may only be changed by Wilo cus-
tomer service or an authorized/certified service
center. The pump may not be used again until
the damage has been adequately rectified!
8.3.5. Visual inspection of accessories
Check to ensure accessories are fitted correctly
and working properly. Loose and/or defective
accessories should be repaired immediately or
replaced.
8.3.6. Visual inspection of the housing for wear
The housing parts must not be damaged. If there
is visible damage to the housing, consult Wilo
customer service.
8.3.7. Functional test of safety and monitoring de-
vices
Monitoring devices include temperature sensors
in the motor, sealing chamber monitors, overload
relays, overvoltage relays, etc.
• Overload relays and other tripping devices can
generally be triggered manually for test purposes.
• To inspect the electrode or the temperature
sensor, the pump must be cooled to ambient
temperature and the electrical supply cable of
the monitoring device in the switchgear must be
disconnected. The resistance of the monitoring
device can then be measured with an insulation
tester (measuring voltage = 500 V).
The following values should be measured:
• Bimetal sensor: Value = "0" throughput
• PTC sensor: A PTC sensor has a cold resistance
of between 20 and 100 ohms.
Installation and operating instructions Wilo-EMU FA+T-Motor
For 3 sensors in series, this would result in
a value of between 60 and 300 ohms.
For 4 sensors in series, this would result in
a value of between 80 and 400 ohms.
• Electrode for sealing chamber monitor: This
value must approach infinity. If the value is
lower than 30 kOhm, there is water in the oil.
Also observe the instructions of the optionally
available evaluation relay.
In the case of larger deviations, please consult
the manufacturer!
• PT100 sensors have a resistance of 100 ohms
at 0 °C. Between 0 and 100 °C, this value in-
creases by 0.385 ohms per 1 °C. This therefore
gives a value of 107.7 ohms at an ambient
temperature of 20 °C.
8.3.8. Inspection of the switching devices/relays in
use
Please refer to the respective operating manual
for the procedure for checking the switching
devices/relays used. Defective devices must be
replaced immediately, as they cannot ensure safe
operation of the pump.
8.3.9. Changing the oil in the seal chamber
Depending on the motor, either a single or two
separate openings are used to empty and fill the
sealing chamber.
BEWARE of injuries from hot and/or pressur-
ized lubricants!
After the unit is switched off, the oil is still
hot and under pressure. This can force out
the plug, causing hot oil to escape. Beware
of injuries or burns! Let the oil cool down to
ambient temperature first.

2.
Remove the plastic cover (if present) and carefully
and slowly unscrew the plug (D or D-).
3.
Drain off lubricant by turning the pump until the
opening faces downwards. Collect the lubricant in
a suitable container and dispose of according to
the requirements in the "Disposal" section.
4.
Turn the pump back until the opening is facing
upwards again.
5.
On motors with separate filling and drainage
openings, clean the plug (D-), fit it with a new
sealing ring and screw it in again.
6.
Pour in new lubricant through the opening in
the plug (D or D+). The oil must reach up to the
