Troubleshooting

DANGER!
Risk of being injured by falling objects!
The load lifting equipment may tip over if it jams!
Stop the hoist immediately.
Determine the cause and eliminate the fault.
Fault
Cause
The motor starts but the wire rope does not move.
Rope jam in the hoist due to damaged or incorrect wire rope.
Obstructed rope exit.
The load has jammed or is tied in place.
The motor will switch off suddenly if it has been in use for a longer period of time.
The motor's thermal protection switch has switched off and the control does not work.
Overheating caused by inadequate cooling.
Overheating due to the supply voltage being too high or too low.
Ambient temperature over 40°C or operation at altitudes over
1000 m above sea level.
Hoist operation is not possible.
Control unit not switched on.
EMERGENCY-STOP button pressed.
EMERGENCY limit switch reached.
EMERGENCY limit switch is defective.
The hand crank is in the operating position or the 'Manual operation'
switch is faulty. (for hoists with manual emergency operation).
Disconnected mains supply.
Power supply cable between the mains connection and the control unit
disconnected.
Power supply connected incorrectly or the neutral conductor is missing.
Protective cut-out tripped after overheating due to insufficient motor
cooling.
Protective cut-out tripped due to overheating caused by the voltage being
too high or too low.
Two poles in the power supply cable are switched. The built-in reverse
polarity protection locks out the control unit.

Elimination
Support the load (e.g. with a wedge clamp or lever hoist).
Cut the wire rope in front of and behind the hoist.
Send the hoist to be repaired.
When available, install a new wire rope in replacement hoist.
Carefully free or untie the load.
Check the wire rope, rigging and load lifting equipment for their
operating safety.
Provide sufficient cooling.
Have an electrician measure the voltage and power consumption
when subjected to load.
Make sure that there are sufficient breaks in operation.
Switch on control unit.
Unlock the EMERGENCY-STOP button.
Move downwards in emergency mode until the limit switch is free.
Have an electrician check or replace the limit switch.
Move the hand crank into the idle position.
Have an electrician check or replace the 'Manual operation' switch.
Clarify the cause and eliminate the fault.
Check all cables and connections and repair as necessary.
Have the connection repaired by an electrician.
If necessary, have it modified by the manufacturer.
Clean motor cover.
Have an electrician measure the voltage and power consumption
when subjected to load.
Increase the wire cross-section if necessary.
Turn the phase reverser in the plug by 180°, see Fig. 13.
