1.3.6
Electric starting system
In order to avoid the risk of electric arcs, it is advisable to always connect the positive pole of the battery
before the negative one (generally to the ground).
- Do not use naked flames. The batteries produce potentially explosive gases when recharging. It is
essential, therefore, to keep the premises well ventilated and to not use naked flames near the
batteries.
- Do not smoke. The batteries produce potentially explosive gases when recharging. It is essential,
therefore, to keep the premises well ventilated and to not smoke near the batteries.
- Disconnect the negative pole of the battery before servicing the engine, in order to avoid accidental
start-ups. Make sure that the automatic starting system and engine cannot start up while the engine is
being serviced.
- The diesel pump is an automatic device. You are recommended to check that the three-way switch is in
its "0" position before connecting the batteries.
1.3.7
Electric panel
- Do not remove the safety devices.
- Before servicing the electric panel, unplug it from the mains and secure the machine to make sure that
it cannot start up automatically. If necessary, disconnect also the engine's starting batteries.
- The diesel pump is an automatic device. Before making the electrical connection, you are
recommended to check that the three-way switch is in its "0" position and, in the case of maintenance,
to also disconnect the batteries, starting with the terminal of the positive pole.
- Electric panels, like all electrical equipment, are susceptible to humidity and dust. Make sure that the
heating elements that prevent condensation (when applicable) work properly, and that the air vents are
clean. Periodically check that the hold-down bolts of the electrical connections are securely tightened.
1.4
Safety requirements for operation
- Prohibit all unauthorized access.
- The diesel pump is an automatic device. You are recommended to take maximum care because the
engine could start up unexpectedly, without warning, even when there is no supply of power.
- Do not remove the safety devices. Do not remove the original protections on exposed rotating parts,
hot surfaces, air intakes, belts and live electrical components. Do not leave any disassembled
components on the motor or in its vicinity; do not leave any tools or other parts not belonging to the
system in the same room or near the diesel pump booster set.
- Always wear protective gloves when working.
- Always wear a hard hat, protective glasses and safety footwear in the work area.
- Always wear ear protection to avoid damage to your hearing, especially when spending long periods
near the running machine.
- Never wear loose-fitting clothes, rings and/or necklaces when working near motors or moving parts.
- Risk of fire. Never leave flammable liquids or rags soaked with flammable liquids near the set or near
electrical equipment (including lamps) or parts of an electrical system.
- Do not leave rags on the motor.
- Do not attempt to make repairs you are not familiar with. Always follow the instructions and, if these
ATTENTION
are not available, contact the supplier or a qualified technician. When starting an engine after making
repairs, take measures to prevent the intake of air in case the engine over-revs upon start-up. Keep
the engine clean at all times, removing any traces of oil, fuel and/or coolants.
Risk of electrical current. Never touch the machine or, in particular, the cables and moving parts of the
motor. Periodically check that the cables are securely fastened.
