before disconnecting the power line. Any changes made to the panels that have not been agreed with the maker shall
automatically invalidate the warranty.
 Topping up: check the level of oil, water and fuel on a weekly basis. Check this more regularly the more often the diesel
pump is used.
 Electrical connections: Check the electrical connections of the motor and electric panel on a monthly basis, making sure
that they are securely tightened.
 Diaphragm tanks: Refer to the tank's instructions; check the pre-charge at least once a year.
 Engine heater: A heater is installed on most engines used for firefighting diesel pump applications; the heater can be of two
types:
-
OIL HEATER: (special heating element located under the engine oil sump).
-
WATER HEATER: (heating element located in the engine base).
This device is designed especially for the starting of diesel engines at low temperatures, or for applications where an
immediate output of power is required. The heater is always equipped with a thermostat that cuts off the power supply as soon
as the set temperature is reached. All the heaters must be connected to ground ( this is done by the electrical connection
cable) for safety reasons.
The heaters are powered with 230Vac. It is absolutely forbidden to carry out any work if the equipment is still being powered.
As a general rule, the heaters do not require any maintenance.
The external surface of the heaters may exceed 60°C; always use suitable equipment when handling the heaters.
 Motor-pump expansion joints
The expansion joints used for coupling the engine to the liquid end must be periodically checked every 6 months (the interval
between checks varies depending on the use of the diesel pump). The main checks concern the sound condition of the joint and
the alignment of its two components.
Maximum admissible tolerances:
Motor
1 and 2 cylinders
3 and 4 cylinders
6 cylinders ( max 200kW) ≤0.3 mm
NOTES: All the diesel pumps are supplied aligned and locked in position by pins to prevent any shifting during transportation.
It is strictly forbidden to tamper with the installation. To do so will forfeit the warranty.
ATTENTION
In any case, all operations intended to solve different problems must be performed by qualified personnel only. Before
proceeding with any operations on the expansion joints, make sure that the diesel pump is switched off and that it cannot be
started accidentally. Only experienced personnel, aware of the possible hazards resulting from the movement of mechanical
members, are authorized to remove the protections.
Before proceeding with any checks or operations, read the Safety Instructions chapter and the reference documents carefully.
The protective devices must be removed only after putting the diesel pump in safe mode, by turning the
switch to its "0" position and disconnecting the starting batteries!
 Anti-vibration mountings
Check the condition of the anti-vibration mountings on an annual basis. These must be fully intact and any that are worn or
defective must be replaced with new ones of the same type.
 Diesel engine, type of cooling for water to water heat exchangers
The correct flow of water through the heat exchanger must always be checked when starting the diesel

pump.
The pressure and flow must be checked in relation to the minimum values indicated by the supplier.
