3.3
General installation criteria
- The installation of one or more diesel pumps must be performed according to the design drafted by specialized technicians
certified to design this type of systems. The installation must be performed by certified organizations employing specialized
personnel and suitable equipment.
- The systems must be constructed in a workmanlike manner; once the work has been completed, the installing firm must issue
a Declaration of Conformity of the systems, guaranteeing their workmanlike execution, conformity to the design and
compliance with the reference standards. We recommend that you pay special attention to all the parts connected with the
safety of the supervising and operating personnel.
- Before installing the set, make sure it has not been damaged during transportation.
- Install the diesel pump in an area protected against weathering and frost, and within the recommended temperature range.
- The room or area where the diesel pump set is installed must be under the exclusive management of specialized and suitably
trained personnel.
- Check the electrical connections and charge of the batteries and of the panel.

Assembly
The rules below are to be observed to ensure correct installation, except when stricter rules are set down by:
- The applicable domestic safety regulations in force.
- The user and maintenance manual of the motor.
- The user and maintenance manual of the hydraulic section.
In order to ensure correct installation of the machine in an indoor environment, the following rules must be observed as a
minimum:
- The room must be of a sufficient size to ensure efficient use of the machine and easy access to the components of the
machine for the purposes of normal maintenance and repairs.
- It should be possible to use the normal machinery and vehicles available on site for installing the diesel pump in the room.
- There must be suitable vents to ensure good ventilation. The vents should be of a size suited to the amount of heat generated
by the engine and by all other hot components (exhaust piping, electric motors) and the amount of air required for motor
combustion.
- It should be possible to install a short fume exhaust pipe with a minimal number of elbow bends (a long pipe with many bends
can reduce the power of the engine).
- There should be sufficient clearance on a minimum of three sides of the diesel pump to ensure ease of access.
- The control panel should be installed in a convenient and accessible position near the unit offering the operator good visibility
of the equipment. The control panel should not be subjected to any type of vibrations.
- Install the fuel tank and control panel next to and not behind the radiator, leaving a minimum clearance of 600 mm. Secure it
to the ground.
- Install and fasten down the diesel pump booster set on a surface that is perfectly solid, level and uniform.
- Install and fasten down the diesel pump booster set in such a way as to ensure that all routine and supplementary
maintenance can be carried out without difficulty and without compromising the safety of the personnel concerned.
Refer to standard UNI 11292 or other applicable local standards for the minimum structural and dimensional characteristics of
the premises.
Figure 1 provides an example for engines with radiator, and shows the minimum dimensions recommended for clearance
around the set and the height of the room. Check the minimum and maximum dimensions against those recommended by
standard UNI 11292 or other applicable local standards.
