4 . SETUP AN D OP E RAT ION
4.1 BEFORE THE FIRST USE
1. Remove all packaging from the appliance.
2. Before using the appliance for the first time, clean the baking dish (5) and the dough
hook (4), as well as the measuring cup (1) and measuring spoon (2), as described in
the chapter ‚Cleaning and maintenance' .
3. Place the appliance so that the mains connection is freely accessible.
4. Switch the bread maker to baking mode (programme 14) and bake it for about
10 minutes until empty. Then let it cool down and clean all the removed parts again.
When using the appliance for the first time, there may be a slight smell.
This odour will disappear after longer use.
4.2 FUNCTIONS
Start/Pause/Stop button:
Press the button to start the preparation process. The display (10) shows the
remaining operating time (hh:mm).
If you want to interrupt the preparation process for a short time, press the button
briefly. The time display flashes. To continue, press the button again.
If you want to stop the preparation process before the programmed time has
elapsed, press the button for longer than 2 seconds. A signal sounds and the
process is interrupted.
Ingredient compartment:
In some programmes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10) additional ingredients can be added
during the kneading process, which are filled into the ingredient tray (9) beforehand.
If described in the recipe, fill the ingredient tray (9). When the programme reaches
the stage where the ingredients are added, the appliance opens the compartment
automatically.
To remove the compartment, press the small black buttons on both sides and pull it
upwards.
– Do not overfill the compartment!
– Always make sure that the ingredients are the right size: Not too small to fall
through the vents when closed; - Not too big not to fit through the opening
when the flap opens;
– Never pour liquids into the ingredient compartment!
– Make sure that sticky ingredients (e.g. cherries) do not clump together.
Dust them with a little flour first if necessary.
– Dry moist ingredients (e.g. olives) with a kitchen towel beforehand.
To insert the ingredient tray, make sure that the arrow points downwards.

Timer:
If you want to postpone the operating time, i.e. move the preparation mode to a
later time, press the „TIME+" button.
Degree of browning:
The browning level is preset to „medium". To change the browning level, press the
„COLOR" button until the desired level appears on the display.
Quantity:
The default setting is 750 g. To change the quantity of dough/bread size, press the
„WEIGHT" button until the display shows the desired quantity.
Keep warm:
After the baking process is finished, a 1-hour keep-warm phase begins. At the end
of the keep-warm phase, the appliance beeps 10 times. If you want to end the keep-
warm phase beforehand, press the START/PAUSE/STOP button for one second.
A beep is heard and the keep-warm function is ended.
Programmes:
The appliance has 15 presets designed for specific types of preparation.
They vary in the duration of each phase. Press the MENU button to select the
desired programme.
Additional information is required for some programmes.
Yoghurt - programme 9:
When making yoghurt, make sure that the baking tin is thoroughly cleaned and
that there is no residue in the dish. Use very hot water, then dry the baking dish well
and let it cool.
When making yoghurt, it is not necessary to use the dough hook. The ingredients
(whole milk and yoghurt starter) must be mixed lightly and evenly with a wooden
spoon or similar before starting the programme.
Jam - programme 12:
Please note that acid forms when jam is cooked. As a result, bread baked in the
same mould may not come out of the mould easily. Please clean the baking tin
thoroughly after making jam.
