− Before using the CPM device, the
operator must ascertain that it is in
correct working order and operating
condition. The cables and connectors,
in particular, must be checked for signs
of damage. Damaged parts must be
replaced immediately, before use.
− Before therapy, a test run consist-
ing of several exercise cycles must
be completed, first without and then
with the patient. Check that all setting
screws are tightened.
− Stop therapy immediately when you
have doubts about the device settings
and/or the therapy protocol.
− Ensure an anatomically correct setup
of the CPM device suitable for the
patient to be treated. For this purpose,
check the following settings/positions
(see numbers on device):
1. Height adjustment of motion
element
2. Shoulder width adjustment
of motion element
3. Backrest
4. Length adjustment of upper arm
5. Adjustment of elbow angle
6. Forearm guide
7. Forearm length adjustment
− The CPM device must be stopped be-
fore any of the adjustments 1 through
7 is modified.
− Movement must always be free of
pain and irritation.
− The patient must be fully conscious
during instruction and when using the
device.
− The choice of the therapy param-
eters to program and of the therapy
protocols to use is restricted to the
responsible physician or therapist.
The doctor or therapist must decide on
a case-by-case basis whether the de-
vice can be used with each particular
patient.
− The patient must be familiar with
the functions of the ARTROMOT®-S4
programming unit and the unit must
be within easy reach of the patient,
allowing him or her to stop therapy if
needed.
− Minors or persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabili-
ties must never be left unattended
during therapy sessions; specialist staff,
a parent or legal guardian must always
be present.
− Write the patient's name on the pa-
tient chip card. The card should only
be used for this patient.
If the patient chip card is used for
another patient, be sure to delete the
previous patient data from the card
first (see sections 4.1 and 5.3, para-
graph "New Patient").
Use original chip cards only.
− The ARTROMOT®-S4 must only be
used with accessories approved by
ORMED.
− Modifications to the medical device
described in this document without
the manufacturer's written consent is
prohibited.
− Do not allow parts of the body or
objects (such as blankets, cushions, or
cables) to get caught in the moving
parts of the CPM device.
