4. Some of the functions can only be acti-
vated and deactivated, while values can
be entered for other functions.
Functions that can be activated: Some
of the functions can only be activated and
deactivated; no other adjustments are
required (e.g., warm-up). They are acti-
vated and deactivated by tapping. When
activated, the status field is green; when
deactivated, it is gray.
Functions that can be activated and
have additional adjustment options:
Toggle the on/off button. When the field
is green, the corresponding function is
activated; when it is black, the function is
deactivated. If the function is activated,
the adjustment options are displayed in
color and can be selected. If the function
is deactivated, the adjustment options
are gray and cannot be selected.
Adjustable functions: Select the function
and, using the arrow left/arrow right but-
tons, change the value displayed between
the arrow buttons.
5. To return to the last menu item/parame-
ter, tap its name in the header of the dis-
play on the left.
6. Having programmed all parameters, press
the STOP button to save the values.
7. Next, press the START button: The
ARTROMOT®-S4 checks the set val-
ues, positions the motion element mid-
way between the set internal and exter-
nal rotation values, midway between the
set anteversion and retroversion values
as well as to the set maximum adduction
value and stops.
8. Press the START button again to start
therapy.
PNF motion pattern:
Then, the device will first move to the
maximum internal rotation position and si-
multaneously to the maximum anteversion
position. The device will then simultaneous-
ly move to the maximum external rotation
position, the maximum abduction position
and the maximum retroversion position, and
subsequently to the maximum adduction
position, the maximum internal rotation
position and the maximum anteversion po-
sition. After reaching this position, the cycle
restarts: maximum abduction, maximum
external rotation and maximum retrover-
sion at the same time.
Wave motion pattern:
Next, the carriage will first move the
maximum anteversion position. All 3 mo-
tors are synchronized in this position and
the resulting pattern resembles a sideways
figure eight.
Patients with programmed
chip card
• First, complete the mechanical
adjustments.
• Then, insert the chip card (the patient is
not yet positioned on the CPM device).
• Press the START button: the device will
move to the starting position as speci-
fied by the parameters stored on the chip
card and stops.
• Position the patient on the CPM device
and press the START button to initiate
therapy.
