Connect equipment,antennas, and other optionalequipment be--
fore connecting the AC cord.
CONNECTING THE SUPPLIED
SPEAKERS
You can obtain a front surroundeffect.
Connect the speakers to the SPEAKER terminalsand the SUR-
ROUND SPEAKERS jacks of the main unit.
1 Connect to the SPEAKERS terminals.
Connect the right speaker (_ to the R terminal, and the left
speaker _) to=the L ter[ninal with the cords attached to the
speakers.
Open the levers ofthe SPEAKER terminalson the main unitand
insertthe conductorsof the cordswithwhitestdpesto • andthe
conductorsof the black cordsto e.
Then, shut the levers to lock.
2 Connect to the SURROUND SPEAKERS jacks,

Use the supplied yellow-'blackcords.
Connecting to the sDeakeJ
Push the levers of each terminal, and insertthe conductorsof
the yellow cordsto $ and the conductorsof the blackcordsto
e. Then, release the levers to lock.
Connecting to the main unit
Connect the speakers to the SURROUND SPEAKERS jacks
with the plugsof the connectingcords.
Right speaker (i) should be connected to the R jack, and left
speaker (_) to the L jack.
,,,The speakersystems are magneticallyshielded. However, if
the speakers shouldaffectthe coloronyourTV screen, turnoff
the TV andturnitonagain 15-30 minuteslater. Ifthe TV screen
still has poor color, move the speakers away from the "IV.
• Do not leave magnets or objects generatingmagnetismnear
the speakers.
CONNECTING THEACCORD
Connect the AC cordto an AC outlet.
A demonstration of the unit's preset functions begins in the display
window (DEMO mode). This demonstrationcan be canceled.
Refer to "DEMO (DEMONSTRATION) MODE" on page 20.
Also,the II SET buttonflashes to informyou that the current time
needs to be set. Refer to "SETTING THE CLOCK_on page 22.
If settingup with optional equipment, connectthe optionalequip-
ment before connectingthe AC cord.
