Select the "Demo" option and press key F3 to enable/disable operation of the program in demo
mode. In demo mode it is no longer possible to use the measuring heads and all the values
displayed are random. Enabling/disabling of this function is indicated by an icon (red
white car) in the top right-hand corner of the working window.
This program adjusts the toe values to obtain a perfectly "straight" steering wheel during road
testing of the vehicle.
Select the "Crooked Steering Wheels" option and confirm by pressing key F3.
Perform the various steps of the program as follows:
- press key F3 to advance one stage;
- position the vehicle as for execution of the complete measurement procedure;
- position the steering wheel as for road testing;
- position the steering wheel with the spokes straight;
- adjust the half-toes until the values shown on screen read zero;
- exit the program.
At the end of the program, the system prompts for permanent saving of the calculated
compensation values.
Warning !
If the operator, having noted a systematic error, chooses to permanently save the compensation
values, the system will automatically apply the corrections to all subsequent toe value
calculations.
This is equivalent to modifying the calibration of the system, and should only be used as
a stopgap measure while waiting to perform a proper calibration with the correct
procedures and equipment.
A special icon appears on the screen to signal that there are active compensation values (fig. 49).
Pressing the F7 key deletes previously calculated compensation values.
