Procedure:
1. Clean the CRI/CRIN, piezo CRI (see sec. 7.3).
i
When the CRIN has internal connections, the CRIN
must be installed in the test adapter before clamp-
ing (see sec. 5.4.8).
2. Clamp the CRI/CRIN, piezo CRI (fig. 31, item 5) (see
sec. 5.4.6).
!
To avoid twisting and premature wear, do not con-
nect the high-pressure hose assembly directly to the
injector. Always connect the high-pressure hose as-
sembly to the connection adapter for the CRI/CRIN
or piezo CRI on the injector (see sec. 5.4.7).
!
The connection adapter for CRI/CRIN and piezo CRI
must be tightened to a torque of 25 Nm to 30 Nm.
If the connection between the connection adapter
and the injector is leaking, the screw connection is
not to be re-tightened. In the event of a leak, unfas-
ten the connection again, clean the sealing surface
and re-connect the connection adapter applying the
correct tightening torque.
3. Connect adapter M12 — M14 (fig. 6, item 2) to the
high-pressure connection of the injector (only neces-
sary when the high-pressure connection has threads
measuring M14x1.5).
Tightening torque 25 — 30 Nm
4. Connect the connection adapter (fig. 31, item 7) to
the high-pressure connection of the CRI/CRIN/piezo
CRI or adapter M12 — M14.
Tightening torque 25 – 30 Nm.
!
The smallest permissible bending radius of the
high-pressure hose assembly is 90 mm.
!
The high-pressure hose assembly should not come
into contact with the protective hood.
5. Connect the high-pressure hose assembly to the
high-pressure connection (fig. 31, item 2).
Tightening torque 25 – 30 Nm.
6. Connect the other end of the high-pressure hose
assembly to the connection adapter (fig. 31, item 7).
Tightening torque 25 – 30 Nm.

i
For certain CRIN from Bosch, the "CRIN adapter with
check valve" (Fig. 9, item 9) must be used as well.
It is inserted into the test connection for the return
quantity (CRI/CRIN, piezo CRI; see fig. 3, item 3)
prior to starting the test and then connected to the
hose assembly 1 684 462 570 (Fig. 9,
item 1). Which CRIN needs the adapter is displayed
in the EPS 118 software after the CRIN is selected.
!
If the CRIN adapter with check valve 1 683 350 904
(Fig. 9, item 9) is not used in accordance with the
instructions or is connected incorrectly, e. g. directly
to the CRIN, a faulty measurement results, leading to
an incorrect evaluation of the CRIN.
7. Connected the injector-specific hose assembly
(see section 5.4.9) to the "Test connection for return
quantity" (fig. 31, item 3) or to the CRIN adapter
with check valve 1 683 350 904.
8. Connect the other end of the injector-specific hose
assembly (see sec. 5.4.9) to the return of the
CRI/CRIN or piezo CRI.
i
The adapter lines for non-Bosch CRI (see 5.4.13) can
only be connected together with connecting cable
1 684 448 333 (fig. 31, item 8) to socket X7 of the
EPS 118.
9. Connect the injector-specific adapter cable (see sec.
5.4.10 or sec. 5.4.13) to socket X7 (fig. 3, item 10)
of the EPS 118.
10. Connect the other end of the injector-specific adapt-
er cable (see sec. 5.4.10 or sec. 5.4.13) to the
CRI/CRIN or piezo CRI.
!
Route the injector-specific adapter cable such that
it does not come into contact with the hot hose
assemblies.
11. Close the protective hood.
12. Continue the test in sec. 7.9.
