Throttle
Throttle is controlled automatically by the collective
pitch control via the throttle curve.
If the throttle curve is to work properly, you must en-
sure that the following pre-conditions are fulfilled:
a. CS/DTC switch at OFF position
You will find the switch at CS/DTC in the menu
Setup, Assignment, Switches. The asterisk
must not appear after the direction arrow:
CS/DTC
b. Throttle limiter at Max. position
In the menu Setup, Assignment, Controls you
will find the transmitter control which is used to
control Throttle Limit (Thr.lim.). The default is
the right-hand slider (F).
The arrow following the F points in the direction of
the Minimum position (in our example "back"):
Thr. limit
c. Throttle trim "fully back"
If the Idle setting for Throttle is "back", then the trim
(trim buttons adjacent to the collective pitch stick)
must also be set fully back. Otherwise, in the worst
case - with the collective pitch stick in the Minimum
position - 20% throttle could still be generated by
the associated receiver output. That could prevent
the initialisation of an electronic speed controller,
or allow the power system to continue spinning
even when collective pitch minimum is selected.
d. Throttle Minimum at 0%
!
For electric helicopters the rule is as follows:
The motor of an electric helicopter can only be
switched off completely using the Limiter or the col-
lective pitch stick if Throttle Min. is set to 0%.
For I.C. engines the rule is this:
At Throttle Min. = 0% the carburettor barrel is com-
pletely closed, and the engine stops. For this rea-
son a value for Throttle Min. must be set at which
the engine continues to run reliably (default setting
is 20%).
The value for Throttle Min. can be found in the
main menu ¢Control under Throttle:
The full range of the throttle curve can now be ex-
ploited.
For initial experiments you can safely use the default
values from the model template (see illustration).

Throttle
Throttle is automatically controlled by the collective
pitch control via the throttle curve.
If the throttle curve is to work properly, you must en-
sure that the following pre-conditions are fulfilled:
a. Switch CS/DTC at OFF setting
You will find the switch at CS/DTC in the menu
Setup, Assignment, Switches. The asterisk after
the direction arrow must not appear:
CS/DTC
b. Throttle limiter at Max. position
In the menu Setup, Assignment, Controls you
will find the transmitter control which is used to
control Throttle limit (Thr.lim.). By default this is
the right slider (F).
The arrow after F points in the direction of the
Minimum position ("back" in our example):
Thr.lim.
c. Throttle trim "to centre"
d. Throttle minimum to 20% (default setting)
This setting ensures that the motor continues to run at
idle when the throttle limiter is set to minimum. You
can find this value in the menu ¢Control under
Throttle.
The full range of the throttle curve can now be ex-
ploited.
For initial experiments you can safely use the default
values from the model template (see illustration).
Tip: speed governor (regulator)
Glow-powered model helicopters can be fitted with a
supplementary speed governor which automatically and
very accurately maintains a constant system rotational
speed. If you wish to fly such a model, the ROYAL
offers the following special function:
Assign the function RPM to a vacant servo output (
menu Servo, Assignment), and connect the gover-
nor to this receiver output. The menu Control now
includes an item designated RPM. At this point you can
set a fixed value for the nominal rotational speed, and
set a different value for each flight phase. The speed
governor, i.e. the fixed value for the governor, can be
switched off at any time using a physical switch. If you
do this, the throttle servo is controlled via the throttle
curve in the usual way.
