implement the preliminary study in accordance with the
standard good practices.
Prior to the achieving this work, the installer should
organize the site so that work is carried out in compliance
with safety requirements, particularly in terms of labour
regulations. Individual or collective protection should be
set up for that purpose. Checks should be run to verify
that the equipment to be installed complies in terms of
type and quantity with the equipment described in the
preliminary study.
6.2. Checks prior to installation
Before installation, check that:
1. The angle of inclination of the line over the entire
life of the intended route is less than 15 ° to the
horizontal.
2. The lifeline is located above the operator's plane
of movement throughout the proposed route.
3. The cable length is sufficient to cover the entire
route of the proposed lifeline and make the loop
in the corner unit and the loss due to cable sag
between the anchors.
4. The distances between anchors throughout the
route of the proposed lifeline are between 5 and
15 m.
5. In the case of an installation on interface plates:
the plates are Tractel
strength is compatible with lifeline anchors.
6. All components are available in sufficient
numbers to ensure the installation complies with
the specifications of this manual.
7. The tools required for the installation of the
lifeline are available, especially the size 24 socket
wrench, a torque wrench with a size 24 socket,
and a set of size 10 to 24 spanners, cable cutters,
a Ø 6 mm feeler gauge. The tools required for
securing the interface plates are specified in
the instructions supplied with these plates. The
tools required for securing on concrete or steel
structures are specified in the securing means
manufacturer's installation instructions (plugs,
bolts, etc.).
8. The presence and visibility of the markings on all
the constituent elements of the lifeline.
9. That none of the constituent parts of the lifeline
show any deformation and / or significant
corrosion.
10. The layout of the travsflex™ 2 lifeline includes
at least one access point allowing the operator
to securely connect his PPE with a slider either
located or ready to locate on the travsflex™ 2
lifeline.
"DANGER": If any anomaly is detected during the
inspection, the part of the travflex™ 2 lifeline concerned
must be relegated to prevent its use and shall be

subject to reclamation by a trained and competent
person (see section 10).
6.3. Installation of structural anchors and
interface plates
6.3.1. General
Structural anchors and Interface plates (ASPI) for
intermediate anchors are arranged at intervals of
between 5 and 15 meters apart and with the ASPI for
end and bend anchors. If the travflex™ 2 lifeline does
not include any intermediate anchor, the distance
between ASPI for end and bend anchors them will
be arranged at intervals of between five and fifteen
meters. travflex™ 2 lifeline ASPI can be secured either
on a horizontal or tilted plane where slope does not
exceed 15° from the horizontal, or on a vertical plane
of installation (Fig. 3).
Moreover, in the case of installation on a horizontal or
inclined installation plane, the installer must set the ASPI
so that the travflex™ 2 lifeline cable is not deflected by
an angle greater than 10° from the installation plane
when passing through an intermediary anchor (Fig. 3).
In the case of installation on a vertical installation
plane, the installer must set the ASPI so that travflex™
2 lifeline cable is not deflected by an angle greater than
15° from the installation plane when passing through an
intermediary anchor (Fig. 3).
"IMPORTANT": All screws, nuts and M16 securing
bolts, whether for structural fixings on interface plates
between anchors and brackets and between brackets
and bend plates, must be tightened to a torque of
6+/ -1 daNm.
6.3.2. Installing interface plates
Depending on the interface plates defined by the
preliminary study, the installer secures these interface
plates in accordance with the installation instructions
provided with the plates. The breaking strength of the
interface plates must be at least 1,500 daN for end
anchors and intermediary ones and at least 2,000 daN
for bend anchors (see section 3).
6.3.3. Installation of structural anchors
Depending on the structural anchors defined by the
preliminary study, the diameter of which should be
16mm, the installer secures these structural anchors
in accordance with the installation instructions provided
with the anchors. The traction resistance of the interface
plates must be at least 1,500 daN for end anchors and
intermediary ones and at least 2,000 daN for bend
anchors (see section 3).
"NOTE": Any other installation layout will be
subject to a specific agreement in writing from Tractel
SAS.
