Two different approaches here.
One: Use a toe pressure bar (Special accessory 1 987 009
A01N). This one will ensure that the right and left wheel will always
use their play in a symmetrial manner.
The golden rule is this: Use the toe pressure bar on the front end
of the front wheels if total toe is positive, at the rear end if it negative.
Two (Experts only): After developping a good sense for the
symmetry of the play in toe, you can also establish symmetry
without auxiliaries. In our example, the expert would adjust the
right side from -24 to +7, all in one. Just like done in the example.
The left wheel however is adjusted way beyond the target, e.g.
from +36 not only to +7, but maybe all the way to -15. Only then,
he will turn the adjustment bar in the other direction, until the
desired individual toe value left of +7 was reached, coming from
the negative side. This way, both wheels do always remain in the
drive-forward position.

Raising the vehicle

If the alignment system is not mounted over a pit (which it normally
is not), you will want to raise the vehicle now, in order to do
adjustment work. Please do that only exactly in the way that is
described here. This will guarantee maximum accuracy in measu-
rement and adjustment. Being in the adjustment screen, you will
first have to press the button that tells the system about your
intention to raise the vehicle now (‚Jack & Hold'-button, left). As
a consequence, there will be a screen asking you to raise the lift
now (right)
:
As shown there, you press the ‚Up' button first, and keep it
depressed until reaching the desired altitude. There, you press
the green ‚Equalize' button, and keep it pressed until the system
does not move anymore. You are then within the level limits.
Please note that when you press that green button again, the
system would start moving once more, this does not mean that the
system was not level after first use of the green button.

Adjustment Screen

After calling an adjustment screen (front/rear), the robots will first
go to the required axle, if they are not already there.
If you want to adjust the rear axle, make sure to do that
first. Any changes in toe at the rear axle do automatically
change the toe on the front axle, they are calculated
automatically by the software.
Now, measurement is initiated (Graycode). As soon as stable readings
are possible, the adjustment screen is shown in the following manner:
You will always find the live values for individual toe, and for camber.
At the rear axle, you will additionally see the readings for total toe
and for thrust angle as default. On the front axle screen, you can see
the caster values instead, if the steering was done and not skipped.
All values but caster are live values, and whatever changed is
displayed in real time. If you want to adjust or monitor caster,
please follow the hints given in section 4.4.5. The menu options
on the left side of the adjustment screen will be somewhat more
limited when the vehicle is raised. In all cases, however, you will
be able to look at the adjustment information.
To move from front to rear axle adjustment screen and vice versa
can be done with the button ‚Continue' (Image left)
when in the raised position, by pressing the button for the desired
axle (right)
