Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleansers! Inside
the cover, even water is not used!
Afterwards, you can put small amounts of grease on the cylindric
rail, so that it enters the bearings. Finally, you close the service
doors.
Also, it makes a lot of sense to keep all surfaces on the robot clean
at all times.
For the robots and probes, there is at least the need for periodic
recalibration according to the Quality Management System or
official metrological legislation (if applicable). There are cases
where up to one daily self test of the system is required before
starting to work. Consult you Quality Manager concerning these
issues.

8.3.1

Ventilation system of PC, probes and monitor

As well the PC, the probes, and the monitor do have venting holes
in their housing. The PC and the probes do even have built-in fans.
In all of these areas, there will be an accumulation of dust after
some time. This dust has to be removed on a regular basis,
because otherwise a good ventilation is not assured, and compo-
nents may overheat and take damage, the system will not work
anymore.
94
Damage caused by overheat that is due to dust and dirt
is not covered by warranty!
On the monitor, you have to clean the venting holes with a vacuum
cleaner, without opening the housing. Clean the screen surface
with a cloth and some mild cleanser. To do this, it is not required
to take the monitor off.
Do never use aggressive or abrasive cleaners, or even
solvants!
To clean the PC, shut it down the regular way (as described in
4.6), and turn the isolator switch off. Remove the rear panel of the
cabinet. To do so, you have to remove the two thumb screws.
Ensure that you will be able to put all cable connections at the
back of the PC back in position, e.g. by having the installation
manual at hand. Otherwise, you have to mark the plugs in a
recognizable way. Then, you remove all plugs and cables from the
PC. Slide the PC unit out of the cabinet to the rear, and put it on
an even, clean surface.
Open the cover of the PC by unscrewing the three thumb screws,
and removing the cover.
Now, you use a vacuum cleaner and remove all dust form the
inside and outside of the PC.
Under no circumstances is the vacuum cleaner allowed
to touch any parts of the PC. Danger of damage by
electrostatic discharge.
Afterwards, you close the cover of the PC and put it back in place
into the cabinet. Reconnect all cables in the proper way, as they
were connected before. Especially the position of the USB
connectors can be of critical importance!
Put the rear panel of the cabinet back in place and secure it with
the two thumb screws.
Now, you turn the system back on and do a functional check as
described in chapter 7.
As an effective anti dust protection for the cabinet, it is recommen-
ded to use the dust cover 1 987 009 U38N (special accessory),
which is being put all over cabinet and monitor.
