As soon as unlocked, the front plates can be rotated and moved
freely in all directions. The rear plates can be rotated max. 3° and
are moveable sidewards when unlocked. The plates are only
being unlocked when the measurement robots are placed in front
of them.
The plates can be moved hydraulically, in a synchronized move-
ment in opposite direction. This is used for the automatic runout
comensation. The center photograph shows one of the plate
actuation cylinders. All this takes place under control and actua-
tion by the software. Manual control of the plates is also possible,
using the 'Multimeter' screen (Shift-F1, Multimeter, Plates). At the
rear of the lift control panel (right photograph), there is a rotary
switch, which can unlock all four plates manually, if needed. This
is NOT necessary for a normal measurement process. Whenever
you use that switch, please make sure to put it back in locked
position before the next measurement.
Please make sure to put vehicles always as straight and centered
as possible onto the lift, and that the front wheels are as centered
as possible on the turntables. The vehicle is placed in first gear
(automatic gear in ‚P'), so that it can not roll away.
Under no circumstances is it allowed to have a parking
brake actuated or the brake pedal depressor mounted
during a measurement process. This hint is also given
in the software. You need to comply with this request,
in order to avoid possible damage on the car and/or the
aligner.
3.1.4

Robot Rails

Along both outsides of the lift, there are the covers of the linear
rails that the robots are moving on. These rails are precisely
machined, cylindric bars, which are mounted on a machined edge
of the lift. They enable lateral movement with the necessary
precision.
Also underneath these covers, there is the rack, which is used by
the gear wheels as well of the gear motor and the precision
encoder that evaluates the actual, lateral position of the robots.
The cover of these rails can not be made too robust.
Please avoid all that could bend this cover. Otherwise,
you risk blockages of the robot during the process.

Please make sure that no foreign objects can fall
between the brushes into the cover, to avoid damage to
the rail, bearings, rack, and gear wheels.
On both sides of the lift, you can find service doors that allow
access to the rail and the energy conveyor.
3.1.5
Accessory Jacking Beam (‚LASERJACK')
The insides of the lift runways are made in a way so that they can
be retrofitted with a rolling jacking beam (‚LASERJACK', 1 987
009 G02N, with compressed air supply kit 1 987 009 G49N).
This one can be used to raise one axle of the car pneumatically.
As well for certain adjustment work, and for the use of manufac-
turer specific adjustment tools (e.g. VAG1925 for vehicles with
Multilink Axle), this is very useful.
3.2

Robots

These are the core of the aligner, holding the no-touch metrology
system. The robots consist of two modules: The main body
(orange colour), and the measurement ‚probe'.
