PISTON RING FREE CUTTING CLEARANCE
As the piston ring wears, its end gap increases re-
ducing engine power output because of the resul-
tant blowby through the enlarged gap. Here lies
the importance of using piston rings with cutting
clearance within the limit.
Measure the piston ring free cutting clearance to
check the spring tension.
Service limit (top ring): 4,0 mm
Service limit (2nd ring): 4,8 mm
PISTON RING TO GROOVE CLEARANCE
Fix the piston ring in the piston ring groove,
measure the ring side clearance with the thickness
gauge while matching the sliding surface of piston
and ring.
Standard clearance
Top ring: 0,02 - 0,06 mm
2nd: 0,02 - 0,06 mm
NOTE:
Top ring and 2nd ring differ in the shape.
Be sure to bring the "T"-marked side to top when
fitting them to the piston.

BEARINGS
Wash the bearing with cleaning solvent and lubri-
cate with motor oil before inspecting.
Turn the inner race and check to see that it turns
smoothly.
If it does not turn lightly, quietly and smoothly, or if
noise is heard, the bearing is defective and must
be replaced with a new one.

Damage to the lip

of the oil seal may result in
leakage of the fuel-air mixture or oil. Inspect for
damage and be sure to replace damaged oil seals
with new ones.
MOTOR
JUEGO EN EL CORTE DEL SEGMENTO LIBRE
A causa del desgaste, el espacio en los extremos de
cada segmento del pistón aumenta, causando una
disminución de la potencia del motor debida al es-
cape de gases a través de ese espacio. Por lo tanto,
es importante montar los segmentos que tengan
un juego en el corte inferior al límite indicado.
Medir el juego en el corte del segmento libre para
verificar la carga elástica.
Valor máximo (segmento superior): 4,0 mm
Valor máximo (segundo segmento): 4,8 mm
JUEGO ENTRE EL SEGMENTO Y EL
ALOJAMIENTO
Montar el segmento en su alojamiento en el pistón
y medir el juego lateral del segmento con un cali-
bre de espesores con las superficies de desplaza-
miento del pistón y del segmento en línea.
Juego standard
Segmento superior: 0,02 - 0,06 mm
Segundo segmento: 0,02 - 0,06 mm
NOTA:
El segmento superior y el segundo, tienen perfiles
diferentes. Cuando se montan en el pistón, hay
que verificar que la "T" marcada en el borde esté
arriba.

COJINETES
Antes de controlar los cojinetes, hay que lavarlos
con un disolvente adecuado y lubricarlos con acei-
te del motor.
Girar el anillo interior y controlar que gire sin tro-
piezos. Si el anillo interior no gira de manera regu-
lar y silenciosa, sin tropiezos, o si se oyen ruidos
anormales, significa que el cojinete es defectuoso
y que hay que substiuirlo con uno nuevo.

COLECTORES
Si el labio

del colector está dañado, hay una
pérdida de mezcla de combustible/aire o de aceite.
Controlar las condiciones de los colectores y subs-
tituir todos los que esté dañados.
