CYLINDER LINER
Inspect the cylinder liner for nicks, scratches or
other damage.
PISTON
DECARBONING
Decarbon the crown of the piston and piston ring
grooves. After cleaning the grooves, fit the rings
and rotate them in their respective grooves to be
sure that they move smoothly.
Carbon in groove is liable to cause the piston ring
to get stuck in the groove, and this condition will
lead to reduced engine power output.
A piston whose sliding surface is badly grooved or
scuffed due to overheating must be replaced.
Shallow grooves or minor scuff can be remo-
ved by grinding with emery paper of about #
400.
PISTON DIAMETER
Using a micrometer, measure the piston outside
diameter at the place 19 mm from the skirt end as
shown in the illustration.
If the measurement is less than the limit, replace
the piston with a new one.

MOTOR

Verificar que el cuerpo del cilindro no presente ra-
yas, arañazos u otros daños.
PISTON
ELIMINACION DE INCRUSTACIONES DE
CARBONILLA
Limpiar las incrustaciones de carbonilla de la ca-
beza del pistón y de los alojamientos de los seg-
mentos.
Después de haber limpiado los alojamientos sobre
el pistón, montar los segmentos y hacerlos girar
en sus alojamientos, para verificar que se deslicen
con facilidad.
Las incrustaciones de carbonilla en los alojamien-
tos del pistón pueden causar el pegado de los seg-
mentos, causando una pérdida de potencia del
motor.
Si el pistón presenta ranuras o rayas marcadas en
el cuerpo, debidas a un recalentamiento, hay que
substituirlo.
Las rayas poco profundas o las ranuras peque-
ñas pueden ser eliminadas con papel abrasivo
con un granos de unos # 400.
DIAMETRO DEL PISTON
Con un micrómetro, medir el diámetro exterior del
pistón a una distancia de unos 19 mm del borde in-
ferior del cuerpo del pistón, como se indica en la fi-
gura. Si el diámetro es inferior al límite, hay que
substituir el pistón con uno nuevo.
Medida mínima admisible: 55,880 mm
