4.3.5.
Operation
When entering the Operation screen through the Main Menu, the operator is able to adjust the treatment time, power, pulse
rate, and skin color. The laser will be in Standby mode and the Operation screen (Figure 23) will prompt the user to input
all the treatment parameters. The aiming beam is not active in Standby mode.
The following adjustments and options are available from the Operation screen:
Time: Press the time "+" or "-" button to adjust the laser treatment time. To scroll to the desired time value, maintain pressure on
•
the desired button. The selected laser treatment time will be shown in the time window in minutes and seconds (Min:Sec).
Power: Press the "+" or "-" buttons or rotate the power dial to adjust the laser power. The selected laser power will be shown in the
•
power window in Watts as well as on the power dial. To scroll to the desired power value, maintain pressure on the dial and rotate
in a clockwise direction. The user can also press on the squares around the perimeter of the dial to jump to higher or lower powers,
if available.
Pulse Rate: Press the pulse rate "+" or "-" button to adjust the laser pulse rate. The selected laser frequency will be shown in the
•
pulse rate window. To scroll to the desired frequency value, maintain pressure on the desired button. The laser frequency can be
set in CW (continuous wave, not pulsed) or different pulse rates. The duty cycle in the pulsed mode is 50%.
Treatment Head Selection Indicator: Below the power dial there will be graphics for each of the treatment heads. The software
•
will guide the user on treatment head selection.
4.3.6.
Laser Emission
When the operator has set the treatment parameters and is ready to start the treatment, the operator should press the Standby button to
proceed to Ready mode.
The software has a 6 second delay (with 6 audible beeps) to warn the user of the transition from Standby to Ready mode. During the
transition, the Standby button changes to Ready and flashes. After 6 beeps, the laser is in Ready mode.
The purpose of Ready mode is to wait for the user to press the finger switch to start laser emission. In Ready mode, the laser will emit when
the finger switch is activated. The laser system will return to Standby mode from Ready mode if emission is not enabled within 100 seconds.
Note: Pressing the finger switch during the 6 second delay will result in an Operation Error. The user will need to depress the finger
switch prior to pressing exit, at which time the system will return to Standby.
Warning: NEVER leave this device unattended in Ready mode.
In Ready mode:
The Ready button is active and the aiming beam emits from the hand piece.
•
The selected time, power, and pulse settings are still adjustable; however, the skin color is not adjustable.
•
•
To start laser emission, press the finger switch. To stop emission, remove finger from the finger switch. The laser emission
can be enabled again by pressing the finger switch until the remaining time is over.
Note: If the unit has the finger switch override ON, each time the finger switch is pressed, it will act as an on/off switch.
During emission, the word "EMISSION!" will replace the Ready button on the screen and the software does
not allow the user to change any settings. In addition, the laser system will produce beeps, or a steady
audible tone according to the audio settings chosen in Setup, and the aiming beam will continue to emit.
Furthermore, the LED emission indicator on the front bezel will illuminate for the duration of the treatment.
