OPERACIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO PERIÓDICO Y DE
PUESTA A PUNTO
2.16 CADENA DE TRANSMISIÓN
Lea con mucha atención 1.4 (PRECAUCIONES E IN-
FORMACIONES GENERALES).
Controle cada 500 km. Lubrique cada 1000 km.
El vehículo está equipado con una cadena sin fin rema-
chada (sin enganche).
Tipo de cadena: DID modelo 520 V6

La cadena de transmisión está equipada de
juntas toricas entre los eslabones, que sirven
para mantener la grasa en el interior. Tenga
mucho cuidado cuando realice el ajuste, lubricación,
limpieza y substitución de la cadena.
Coloque el vehículo sobre un caballete de sostén y gire
con la mano la rueda trasera con el cambio en punto
muerto.
Controle visualmente que la cadena de transmisión no
tenga ninguno de los defectos indicados a continuación.
Pernos flojos.
Rodillos dañados.
Eslabones oxidados o agarrotados.
Eslabones deformados o aplastados.
Desgaste excesivo.
Cadena no ajustada correctamente.
Pérdida de juntas tóricas.
Hay que substituir la cadena si presenta uno solo de los
defectos indicados, véase 7.1.23 (DESMONTAJE CA-
DENA DE TRANSMISION).

2.16.1 CONTROL DEL JUEGO

Para controlar el juego:
Controle que la oscilación vertical, en un punto inter-
medio entre el piñón y la corona, en el tramo inferior
de la cadena, sea de 35 ÷ 45 mm aproximadamente.
Controle la oscilación vertical de la cadena incluso
cuando la rueda gire; el juego debe ser constante du-
rante toda la rotación de la rueda.
Si se presenta un juego superior en ciertas posicio-
nes, significa que hay eslabones aplastados o agarro-
tados. Para prevenir el riesgo de agarrotamiento, lubri-
que frecuentemente la cadena, véase 2.16.4
(LIMPIEZA Y LUBRICACIÓN).
Si el juego es uniforme pero superior a 35 ÷ 45 mm,
regúlelo, véase 2.16.3 (AJUSTE).

Si la cadena está muy floja, puede suceder
que ésta se salga del piñón, provocando un
accidente o graves daños al vehículo y a per-
sonas.

De no realizar correctamente el mantenimien-
to, se puede causar el desgaste prematuro de
la cadena o dañar el piñón y/o la corona. Reali-
ce las intervenciones de mantenimiento más frecuen-
temente si utiliza el vehículo en condiciones difíciles o
sobre carreteras polvorientas y/o con barro

2.16 DRIVING CHAIN

Read 1.4 carefully (PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL
INFORMATION).
Check every 500 km. Lubricate every 1000 km.
The vehicle is fitted with an endless chain, which does
not utilise the connecting link.
Chain type: DID mod. 520 V6

The driving chain is equipped with O rings be-
tween the links designed to keep the grease
on the inside.
Use the maximum caution in adjusting, lubricating,
washing and replacing the chain.
Position the vehicle on the special stand and slowly ro-
tate, manually, the rear wheel with the gear in neutral.
Visually check that the chain presents none of the defects
listed below:
Pins loosened
Rollers damaged
Links rusted or seized
Links deformed or with rims
Excessive wear
Chain not adjustable correctly
Leak of O rings
If the chain presents even one of the listed defects, it
must be replaced, see 7.1.23 (REMOVING THE GEAR-
ING CHAIN).
2.16.1 CLEARANCE CONTROL
To check the clearance:
Check that the vertical oscillation - in an intermediate
point between pinion and crown gear in the lower
branch of the chain - is approx. 35 to 45 mm.
Check the vertical oscillation of the chain, also when
the wheel is turning; the clearance should remain con-
stant in all the phases of the wheel rotation.
If there is a larger clearance in certain positions, it
means that there are crushed or seized links. Lubri-
cate the chain frequently to avoid the risk of seizing,
see 2.16.4 (CLEANING AND LUBRICATION).
If the clearance is uniform but higher than 35 to
45 mm, make the adjustment, see 2.16.3 (ADJUST-
MENT).

An excessive slackening of the chain may
cause it to come away from the pinion, causing
an accident or serious damage to the vehicle
and people.

Incorrect maintenance may cause the untime-
ly wear of the chain and/or damages to the
pinion and/or the crown.
Carry out the maintenance operations more frequent-
ly if you use the vehicle in difficult conditions or on
dusty and/or muddy roads.
