De vez en cuando es oportuno realizar un control para ver
si hay eventuales juegos en la dirección.
Para realizar este control es necesario que:
Coloque el vehículo sobre el caballete.
IMPORTANTE
Prepare un soporte de 190 mm de
altura y base de apoyo de 200 x 200 mm.
Interponiendo un tejido esponjoso, coloque el soporte
por debajo del vehículo, de manera que la rueda delan-
tera tenga espacio suficiente para moverse libremente
y para evitar que el vehículo caiga.

PELIGRO
Asegúrese de la estabilidad del vehículo.
Sacuda la parte delantera del vehículo en el sentido de
marcha.
IMPORTANTE
Sacudiendo de manera excesiva la
parte delantera del vehículo, el caballete podría alzarse
por causa de un juego incorrecto.
Repita varias veces la operación precedente.
Si el juego resulta excesivo, restablezca las condicio-
nes óptimas de la dirección.

Desmonte el escudo delantero exterior, véase pág. 51
(DESMONTAJE ESCUDO DELANTERO EXTERIOR).
Suelte de los enganches (1) el tubo freno delantero y
el cable reenvío del cuentakilómetros.
Destornille y quite la tuerca (2).
Extraiga y quite el tornillo (3).
Afloje la tuerca (4).
Par de apriete tuerca (4): 50 Nm (5 kgm).
Levante de unos centímetros el manillar.
Desplace la junta de goma (5).
Afloje la contratuerca (6).

ATENCION
No apriete ni atornille con fuerza la tuerca de ajuste
(7) para no dañar los cojinetes dirección.
Atornille la tuerca de ajuste (7) hasta restablecer el jue-
go de los cojinetes.
Controle el juego sacudiendo la horquilla en el sentido
de marcha y comprobando que la dirección resulte flui-
da y libre en la rotación.
Manteniendo parada la tuerca de ajuste (7) en su posi-
ción, apriete la contratuerca (6) con una llave y repita
el CONTROL JUEGO COJINETES.

Every now and then it is advisable to check the steering,
in order to verify if there are slacks.
To check the steering it is necessary to:
Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
NOTE
Prepare a 190 mm high support, the base of
which must measure 200 x 200 mm.
Place the support under the vehicle and a spongy cloth
between them, so that the front wheel can move freely
and the vehicle cannot fall down.

Make sure that the vehicle is stable.
Shake the front part of the vehicle in the travelling di-
rection.
NOTE
Do not shake the front part of the vehicle exces-
sively, otherwise you may take in consideration the move-
ment of the stand, thus observing an incorrect slack.
Repeat the previous operation more than once.
If the slack is considerable, restore the optimal steering
conditions.

Remove the front outer shield, see p. 51 (REMOVING
THE FRONT OUTER SHIELD).
Release the front brake pipe and the odometer control
cable from the couplings (1).
Unscrew and remove the nut (2).
Withdraw and remove the screw (3).
Loosen the nut (4).
Nut driving torque (4): 50 Nm (5 kgm).
Raise the handlebars of a few centimetres.
Move the rubber gasket (5).
Loosen the lock nut (6).

Do not tighten, nor screw the adjusting nut (7) too for-
cibly, to avoid damaging the steering bearings.
Screw the adjusting nut (7) until taking up the bearing
slack.
Check the slack by shaking the fork in the driving direc-
tion of the vehicle and make sure that the steering is
smooth and free in its rotation.
Keeping the adjusting nut (7) steady in its position,
tighten the lock nut (6) by means of a spanner and
CHECK THE BEARING SLACK again.
