No use gasolina o disolventes inflamables para lavar
el elemento filtrante, para evitar el riesgo de incen-
dios o explosiones.
Limpie y controle las condiciones del filtro del aire cada
mes o cada 4000 km (2500 mi), según las condiciones de
uso.
De utilizar el vehículo en carreteras polvorientas o moja-
das, las operaciones de limpieza tendrán que efectuarse
con mayor frecuencia.
Para limpiar el elemento filtrante es necesario sacar la
caja filtro aire completa del vehículo.

Desmonte la tapa de inspección izquierda, véase
pág. pag. 45 (DESMONTAJE TAPAS DE INSPEC-
CION DERECHA E IZQUIERDA).
Introduciendo la llave en el agujero correspondiente
(1), destornille y quite el tornillo (2) con su arandela.
IMPORTANTE
Durante la instalación, vuelva a co-
locar correctamente el pasacable freno trasero (3).
Destornille y quite el tornillo (4) con correspondiente
arandela.
Afloje el tornillo (5) de la abrazadera del colector aire.
Agarre el colector aire en correspondencia con la abra-
zadera y estírelo, extrayendo, de esta manera, la caja
filtro aire completa.

Destornille y quite los tres tornillos (6).
Quite la tapa de la caja filtro (7), y extraiga el elemento
filtrante (8).
Lave el elemento filtrante con disolventes limpios, no
inflamables o con elevado punto de volatilidad, y déjelo
secar con mucho cuidado.
Aplique sobre toda la superficie un aceite para filtros o
un aceite de alta densidad (SAE 80W - 90); luego es-
cúrralo para eliminar el exceso de aceite.
IMPORTANTE
El filtro debe quedar bien impregna-
do pero no debe gotear.
Limpie con un paño el interior de la tapa caja filtro (7) y
de la caja filtro (9).

Do not use petrol or inflammable solvents to wash the
air cleaner, in order to avoid fires or explosions.
Check the conditions of the air cleaner and clean it month-
ly or every 4000 km (2500 mi), depending on the condi-
tions in which the vehicle is used.
If the vehicle is used on dusty or wet roads, the cleaning
operations and any replacement should be carried out
more frequently.
To clean the filtering element it is necessary to remove the
whole filter casing from the vehicle.

Remove the left inspection cover, see p. 45 (REMOV-
ING THE RIGHT AND LEFT INSPECTION COVERS).
Insert the spanner in the appropriate hole (1), while un-
screwing and removing the screw (2) with the relevant
washer.
NOTE
Upon reassembly, position the rear brake cable
eyelet (3) correctly.
Unscrew and remove the screw (4) with the relevant
washer.
Loosen the screw (5) of the air manifold clamp.
Grasp the air manifold in correspondence with the
clamp and pull it, thus removing the whole air cleaner
casing.

Unscrew the three screws (6).
Remove the filter case cover (7) and extract the filtering
element (8).
To clean the filtering element use clean, non-inflamma-
ble solvents or solvents with high volatility point, then
let it dry thoroughly.
Apply a filter oil or a thick oil (SAE 80W-90) on the
whole surface of the filtering element, then squeeze it
to eliminate the oil in excess.
NOTE
The filter must be well impregnated, though not
dripping.
Clean the inside of the filter casing cover (7) and of the
filter casing (9) with a cloth.
