13 APPLICATION EXAMPLES

13.1 STAIR LIGHTING CONTROL
13.1.1 Requirements
When someone goes up or down the staircase, the Light Bulbs must be energized to
provide lighting.
After the departure of the person, the lighting system must be turned off automatically
or manually in five minutes.
13.1.2 Traditional Lighting System
There are two traditional types of control:
Use of relays.
Use of a dedicated automatic timer.
Distribution box
Used components:
Switches
Automatic timer or relays
Using relays as a system controller:
The lighting keeps on while any switch is turned on.
Press any switch to turn the lighting off.
Disadvantage: The user usually forgets to turn the lighting off.
Using a dedicated automatic timer as a system controller
The lighting keeps on while any switch is turned on.
The lighting can be turned off automatically or manually in a few minutes.
Disadvantage: The user cannot cancel the shutdown time.
